Getting Rid of Childhood "Memories"
Parents downsized and now I have all of my old comics, video games, books etc.
Any suggestions for places that might sort through and or buy it or value it or where I can take it?
I know some of it is complete junk with the odd treasure mixed in.
Thanks!

You'd be surprised what might have value. There are a lot of adult collectors looking to rebuild old collections now. Thinks like small accessories to older toys can be especially valuable.
I'd go on EBay and look at completed sales. Probably worth the couple hours of time investment.

I overkeep that stuff but end up throwing it ou.
There was that Amazing Stories show a million years ago. But one guy in some episode kept all that stuff and it turned out to be worth millions (or something like that). That always stuck with me. My folks had these giant chinese egg pot things that appear they would have value. Kept those for some reason. Bulky and heavy but whatever.

Thanks yeah I've done some of that for sure. My Magic cards got me a few thousand when I went through them a few years back. No Black Lotus's though

I remember buying a Revised set from Tramps on Boxing Day instead of the older sets, because it came in a cooler box and had some cool squished marble counters packaged with it (I was 13).
My MTG ended up being worthless, but could have been worth a lot more if 13 year old me hadn't been more interesting in shiny things.

Me too!
In any case, since you’re up in Canada, follow Josh Galt eBay on YouTube. Get in the chat and tell them what you have. Subscribe to List Easier, the software that helps with large listings (AI of course) and see what it’s worth. Josh does lives at noon EST. He just got a bunch of old magazines etc. He won’t sell yours for you of course, but who knows maybe he can advise.
Hope that helps somehow. As Josh says, don’t give someone else your money.

(To OP) This just happened to me too, so much random stuff in my bin. Found my old boglin in perfect condition, was just gonna donate it, but on a whim, looked it up and they're selling for $100...what??
Yeah look through it for sure, may be some hidden gems in there.

I'm no expert in the field, but during covid I got into collecting old video games (PS1, PS2, PS3). The demand at that time resulted in retro video games to go up in price, but it's still always hit & miss depending on the title. Basically your triple A games and anything that was printed in large production will remain at a pretty low value, but you might have a game or two in your collection that's more coveted by collectors.
Depending on the size of your game catalogue I'd start by referencing https://www.pricecharting.com/ to see if you have any gems. Another suggestion would be visiting a local retro gaming store and seeing how much you can get for all to save yourself the hassle of selling everything individually on ebay or something.

Some people put money into relatively unknown batches of stuff too. IIRC, they then go through the stuff with their kids and kinda relive the nostalgia in a sorta random box sort of way. That kinda means to check everything, because the demand has caused the floor of random "old stuff" is perhaps higher than many realize it might be.

Xbox and games, PS3 and games, PS4 games.
Ps3 move set.
Nothing that exciting but can get a list of games if interested.

Still haven't forgiven my mom for giving away my Apple IIe with the 80 column card, twin floppy drives, monitor, imagewriter printer, modem, and cases full of games to a friend's kid who "was interested in computers".

Maybe ask KTrain? I think he’s got his own little shop.
There’s not may stores in town anymore but several online only options. I wonder if anyone at the comic show this weekend would know. It’s more of a buying event but I’m sure a few of the vendors might be interested.
They may only want keys and I’m sure will pay you way less than you’d get on eBay but if you’re not willing to have them graded and sell on your own.
