Default wheres the offence?

I've never seen a more inept Flames offence . I fear whoever they draft will be ruined by the almost unwatchable system thats taught here. They couldn't find a place for Sam Bennett. The coach says they have to play this way to have any success. Do the scouts look for players that can only play this way.

This is what it looks like when you have no first-line talent. Every coach in the world will play a stifling defensive system when the offence isn’t there. And a lot of fans will have silly complaints about it.

It’s very odd you should make this complaint tonight of all nights. The best offence in the game couldn’t win very many games when the defence gives up 6.

We have almost no goal scoring talent on the roster. And the coach is trying to play low event hockey to sneak out low scoring wins.

I am assuming that system would change if we drafted some 1st line talent.

Rhett44, you and I don’t agree about a lot of things, but we agree on this!

At the top of the draft

Your best goal scorer can’t be 35 and regressing with 7 goals on the season

This is fine, for now. As long as it’s not for another 3 seasons. Ticket sales will plummet.

Huska would find a way to neuter any talent, the only time Huska's system allows for offence is when the team is down a few goals in the 3rd, it's his plan B and he should use it all the time.

Again, every single coach in the league uses that kind of system when the team lacks talent. If only three goals are scored in a game, there’s a decent chance the weaker team will score two of them. If there are eight or nine, the odds are all in favour of the team that’s better at scoring. More chances = less probability of a fluke.

Regressing LOL. Guy is on pace for 70 points which would be his 3rd highest point total ever, slightly off his 75 points he got last year which was his 2nd highest point total ever.

Regressing, haha, that was a good one.

Matt Coronato is the lone forward on the team that's a lock for 20+ goals this season and for the foreseeable future. Not sure how fans could expect more from the least talented roster in the NHL.

Have you seen the roster? 2.5 goals per game is right where they should be. Our best passer and best shooter and centered by Morgan Frost. Just wait until Kadri and Andersson are moved, our top two point producers this season.

Like I was saying in another thread, this season isn't even rock bottom for the franchise. That may be next season or the season after that as this team is trending to be the worst team in the NHL for the next few seasons.

I guess 35 goals to 17 goal pace isn’t regressing - another one of your hot takes for sure !

One has to really stretch to call producing a points per game pace much higher than your career average as regression. But you do you, it is one hell of a take.

The Flames would get brutalized in a run and gun system. It would be even less fun to watch
