What is wrong with you Bingo?
Pekka Rautakallio was an all star and the Flames' top scoring d-man for 2 seasons.
What was Cliff Fletcher thinking? This is a debacle of monumental proportions!
And that moron Fletcher let him walk away! That is horrible asset management. This Fletcher guy will never amount to anything
Mark my words, Fletcher is the worst GM the Flames will ever have

He went back further in time and fabricated a comment from me about 15 years before the internet was a thing, referencing a player that goes way back (only old bastards like me would get).

I don't see the problem with bumping a trade thread to re-evaluate it. When a trade happens, there are always people preaching patience to wait and see how it turns out since usually there are factors that need years to play out. But then when that time goes by, you have people (I would bet the same people) arguing that there is no point in discussing after the time has passed. Is it the bump that bothers people as opposed to a new thread, or it is just the idea of discussing past traded after enough time has passed?
I do appreciate the humour of this thread though.

Pekka was a great player and it was a sad day he left the Flames and returned to Finland.
It is about time we had a thread about it.

Certainly depends on intent.
If it's an "I told you so" it never comes across as good thing in my opinion.
But others need bumps ... I like the info a player going to his draft thread for example.

My understanding that this decision was made by the Equipment staff.
"Send him to Europe...we just...we just cant even cope with putting that name on jerseys. Just get rid of him!"

I was definitely confused on this thread. I hated Pekka but I was like six yrs old and loved Kent Nilsson. I did not realize how many points he put up. I had associated him with stay at home defenceman like Kari Eloronta.

I can't ####ing believe they traded Jones to Minny. For a has-been goalie in Nik Backstrom and a crappy sixth-round pick that turned into Matty Phillips, who nobody ever liked. What a joke. Unbelievable.

was 'Scary Kari' (at least that is what my dad called him in our own end) a real stay at home? such a peculiar tenure with the Flames- trade him to St Louis (for nothing), bring him back in a trade (for nothing) the next year- plays for a few years, leaves the NHL for a year (Flames make finals), bring him back (to add to a blueline that already contained Suter, MacInnis and Reinhart)
he had a very decorated international career but I could never quite place him as a NHLer

I think it was him that got a penalty because he had the puck behind the net for so long and would not make a pass and they delay of gamed him for it. Never seen that before or since.

I mean... it's only the single greatest name in Flames history. Although Eddy Beers was always up there for me too.

Not long after the flames moved to Calgary my dad took me to an expo at the grounds, sportsman show maybe? We walked through the whole thing and towards the very back, in the low rent section of the exhibition, was a little table and sitting there was Guy Chouinard and I think Mel Bridgeman signing photos. There was nobody there. So I got to chat with them a little bit before getting my memento.
If Pekka had been there, the cue to meet him would have extended out of the building. Maybe.

He wasn't happy with the building. He wanted to play in luxury and couldn't wait for the Flames to get their act together and build a new arena so he just up and left.
