C Tij Iginla is the WHL Player of the Month for November
Quote:
Calgary, Alta. – The Western Hockey League announced today Utah Mammoth prospect and Kelowna Rockets forward Tij Iginla has been named Tempo WHL Player of the Month for November.
Iginla, a 19-year-old product of Lake Country, B.C., recorded 23 points (11G-13A) and a plus-9 rating in 13 games during the month of the November, helping the 2026 Memorial Cup host Rockets go 8-3-2-0.
The 6-foot-1, 195-pound Iginla returned to the Rockets October 15 after an extended stay with the NHL’s Utah Mammoth. Selected by the Mammoth in the first round (sixth overall) of the 2024 NHL Draft, Iginla has registered 27 points (13G-14A) in 15 games since rejoining the Rockets. His 1.80 points per game ranks second among all WHL skaters this season, trailing only Brandon Wheat Kings forward Jaxon Jacobson (1.81 points per game).
Iginla’s impressive November featured nine multi-point games. Of the veteran forwards 13 games, he was only held off the scoresheet once (November 21 versus Everett).

Despite playing in only 17 of the team's 26 games this season, he is:
- First in points, points per game, faceoff wins, faceoff attempts (leading the team in FO wins and attempts while missing 9 games is crazy!)
- Second in goals (1 behind leader), GWGs (1 behind leader)
- Third in assists (4 behind leader), shots (14 behind leader)
Is 53.8% on faceoffs and has 1.12 PIMs/GP.

I was looking at his stats today. It'll be interesting to see if he stays at center when he goes pro.

As I mentioned before the draft, since 10 years old he's always been a center and his game is more suited to be a center and he plays his best at center, due to team circumstances pretty much all centers play the wing from time to time but I'm seriously not sure why people saw him as a winger when drafted.
Eventually he will play center for Utah and they're lucky to have him.

Nah...we had to give the team a chance and push for the playoffs instead of diving further and trading Markstrom in season that year.

The best part was our massive come-from-behind win against Arizona/Utah in that meaningless game after we were already eliminated. That win literally cemented Utah with at least the 6th (pre-lottery) overall pick and dropped us from a possible top-5 pick to best-case 8th overall lol.

I still remember in second year timbits. They had pre eval skates you could go to at Glenlake. Was at FCA blue, was an early morning 6:30 type skate. Go into the locker room and Iginla is in there with Tij tying his skates. Just us four. Silent. My kid was in awe. I’m whispering ‘stop f’in looking over there’. I didn’t know he had a kid or was in Glenlake
My kid was an 05 Tij was 06. I think it was his first skate in community hockey because he was terrible, not sure he had ever skated before. I guess he got better.

When is Joe Iginla draft eligible? Any idea where he is projected to be selected?

This upcoming draft, and probably projected to be selected around the 25-35 range. Could see Calgary using the Vegas pick to grab him, assuming Vegas makes the playoffs.

^ I doubt Joe is a first rounder at this point. Similar players with better production (Cameron Schmidt, Justin Poirier) have gone much later in recent drafts.

Weird that this thread exists here seeing he's not a Flames prospect nor is he being shopped by the Mammoth.

Remarkable considering his father was just some random Boston man that appeared on the news.

Scoring Winger

It would be a bit unfair to draft Joe into the Flames market. For his sake, I hope we pass on him. I suspect Uncle Craig has similar thoughts.
Tij I could get behind because he was/is trending to be a game breaker.

If the flames end up drafting in the top 5, I think that takes a lot of pressure off Joe to be a game breaker. Similar to how Gridin went under the radar a bit since they also took Parekh

Lmao no it isn't. His father was one of the best to ever play here and some people like the kid and follow his progress. Calgarypuck isn't moving at lightning speed bud, you're not missing some breaking news on the front page.

Tij's stock really rose during his draft year and especially the second half.
