Outside of Zayne Parekh as a close second, Matvei Gridin was the most fascinating story to come out of Calgary Flames training camp this fall. He was immediately thrown into the fire (pun not intended) and placed on the top line to show his skill and comfort level among NHLers.

Flames hope Dome can help them get over hump against Vegas

It's still very early and probably too early to comment, but there was a lot of discussion of the log jam at forward and how it won't work rolling 4 lines.

The Flames have Huberdeau and Pospisil injured, yet Zary and Klapka are on the 4th line getting just over 12 mins a game. Gridin making the team has added to this issue. I really hope he doesn't get demoted, but it is looking like he will once Huberdeau is back.

Conny needs to make a move so some of these guys can play.
