lanny Gift ideas

I'm struggling to think of gift ideas for my wife this year. Easy options like jewelry is not an option. What are some good gift ideas you all have. Either unique or simple.

No a box with a hole in it probably won't work well either

Lets say a few hundred. But ideas can be small and simple too

Experiences or acts of service can be good when there's no good gift ideas.

T shirts with cool art? Books, if she likes to read.

Does it have to be a physical thing?
When I was married we started to give each other more experience gifts.

Then again I'm divorced now, so maybe don't listen to any of my advice!

There's also a car show in Airdrie this weekend

Cirque Du Soleil has a show going on in Calgary currently. There's a Micheal Jackson tribute show this weekend. Alberta Ballet has Once Upon A Time – A Thousand Tales on.

Concert tickets if there's someone or something they like, I got my wife tickets to Riverdance cause she loves that (which I found amusing because the show seemed identical to the first time we went to see it like 25 or whatever years ago). Les Mes is coming to Calgary next year.

Classes can also be good, if they have an interest or hobby. If my wife got me a blacksmithing class I'd freak out, and my parents got me a ticket to fly in a big airplane simulator.

Gelato or Gin making class?

Folding hammock if she doesn't have some super lounge nesting area? It seems kinda dumb until it's readily available and then it's kinda nice area to rest.

Is there anything she has that doesn't have sentimental value that is worn out, but she refuses to replace it? Replace it.

Maybe a curveballs? Couples manicure + pedicure? Always ends up as an interesting story at gatherings. Some guys are one and done, others are open to doing it once every few years as a fun thing to do. Most ladies find it a refreshing and hilarious for something that might be kind of mundane. Something about the guys squirming and the ladies like seeing the vulnerability or something?

How good at cooking prep are you? If you can follow a few basic instructions and aren't half bad at prep, it's maybe 90 minutes to 120 minutes of mostly prep and plating for high tea/fancy dessert/snack. Maybe get an inexpensive but nice looking cake stand and tea set, you do the tea, stuff you're comfortable with like cucumber sandwiches, salmon lox, charcuterie etc. then round it out with some stuff you buy like pastries, mochi donuts, chocolates etc. Yann Haute even has frozen stuff that you just toss in the oven and set a timer and it comes out amazing. Basically, attempt something she likes, not something you're good at (ie: not BBQ if that's your specialty?).

Starlit picnic?

Trip to Victoria!

One thing I'm planning to do this year is get a custom puzzle made from a photo we've taken here.

Do a weekend away at the Nordic Spa at Kananaskis mountain lodge. You could also do some snow shoeing or cross country skiing at the same time.

Dinner party with a private chef cooking for you.

Gifts of experiences are the best! So, depending on availabilities, maybe a short trip to get away for a full day with overnight stay if possible. Fill that day at the destination with activities that she enjoys or even just a day away of rest and relaxation outside if that's more her jam. If going away isn't possible due to availabilities and commitments, stay in the city and plan a fun itinerary. If what she would really love is a day away from you and the kiddies, don't be offended and make that happen for her.

Oh, I'll share an idea I did for an ex gf. She was not into things but loved riddles, mysteries and adventure type stuff. So I created a scavenger hunt for her around the city with hidden clues she had to find, puzzles she had to solve with prizes sprinkled throughout, that ended at a restaurant for us and her bestie. I found riddles and stuff online and also made a few up myself. I had a lot of fun setting it all up too but it takes time....

Good gifts suit the person.
Need more context on your wife's interests to give good suggestions.

A gift for a Kardashian is different than a gift for a spiritual yogi. Not saying your wife is either, just articulating how different women and their interests can be.

As someone one who currently has blue toenails pedicure date with the wife was fun. Had my first one and decided I might as well get the colour as well since I was already there. Would go again!
