I really only care about the on ice stuff. So I hear the Montreal crowd, but Toronto is just so inconsequential to me. They annoy me, and I don’t want to hear about them (which is why I’ve come to like the Habs and Sens). But that annoyance doesn’t come close to the levels of on ice hate I have for many other teams. Happy to see the fellow Duck haters up early today.

I would cheer for Vegas to win the cup against any Canadian team not named the Flames so this list is already broken for me 1,2,3 we’re spot on

Montreals is a weird one for me since we barely ever play them. I get the two finals in the 80s and then they completely fleeced treliving on the monahan deal but even still that feels like politics more than hockey. They are not forced down our throats like the leafs or oilers and there is zero on Ice rivalry
For me it's the sharks or the ducks. I have hated the sharks ever since that playoff upset in the 90s and it was stoked back up during their evander kane years and now watching them pivot from a better team than the flames to a quicker rebuild.. #### them. But I get the ducks thing too the combination of no fans and yet still beating the flames so often for so many years is a stink bomb cocktail

Habs for me easily. If the arrogance of fan bases matters, it's hard to top Montreal fans.

Regarding the Habs, it is usually other people you know, along with those of us that are unfortunate enough to have friends or family that will always talk crap as fans of the Habs. My brother-in-law and father-in-law, for instance, so the Habs, in my opinion, can go straight to He!!

I split Canadian opposition into two piles
Don't Like and enjoy their losses
Edmonton
Vancouver
Toronto
Whatever ...
Ottawa
Winnipeg
Montreal
With the Habs maybe between the two piles more than with Winnipeg and Ottawa.

I'm not voting for Tampa yet, but I'm happy that there are still people out there holding that grudge.
Shine on.

I don’t think Calgary was the first fan base to all wear one color for big games.

Not in all sports, but I'm pretty sure we were the first in the NHL.
Either way, the White Out was definitely done in response to the C of Red.

Going with Chicago now. After all the news the past few years, just doesn't sit well with me.

I'm really curious where the Pens and Habs end up on the list.
Pens have had insane luck in the draft (or maybe even some shenanigans) and have 5 Cups to show for it, all post 1990. Hard not to be envious, if not outright hate them for it. Yet Sid, Geno, Fleury, etc all likeable guys and I really don't know of anyone who hates them (except for Flyers or Caps fans).
Habs have more Cups than God, yet they are kinda just there. Multiple dynasties, and the last Canadian team to win one. Do people around here really hate them, or is it just Eastern Canadians? They do hockey right in that town and the tradition and culture associated with that team is unmatched in hockey.
Multiple reasons to hate them, but I can't bring myself to hate them.

Yeah, the Pens went from quite hated for maybe the first 2 or 3 years after drafting Sid due to how popular it was to hate Sid at the time due to all the coverage he got, but over time, people saw how hard it was to hate him even if the coverage didn't stop, given how much of a class act and perfect role model and spokesperson for Canada he is. I imagine the Pens are pretty high up in favorability actually, except for that segment that hates anything and everything Leafs and because a former Leafs GM is now in Pittsburgh, they might too hate the Pens now.

Correct, it’s the fact that it was specifically created to counter the c of red. They could have easily come up with their own unique tradition in response to ours, which would have been fine, instead it was “the c of red… but white!”
Boring. Lame. A bit sad, too.

I have been voting Montreal since round 2. For me, it is more historical than anything (not from Eastern Canada). If you had any memories of the 70s, you either hated or loved Montreal. There was no meh, back then.

O.K. there has been a lot of talk on whether or not MacTavish has actually done a good job for us, most fans on this board are very basic in their analysis and I feel would change their opinion entirely if the team was successful.
