Noteworthy that the story fails to mention the Steve Moore incident.
I’m surprised that they allow him to coach.

The coach of the Wranglers was convicted of sucker punching an innocent civilian minding his own business in the street. The bar is pretty low in the hockey world for who "they" allow to coach.

Pretty crazy to be doing this at age 50. Probably playing against guys younger than his kids.

Probably still has silky smooth hands. I was always surprised by that.

I believed (and still do) that Bertuzzi deserved a lifetime ban from playing in the NHL; or at least should have received a record-breaking suspension. That didn't happen, and I was angry that he got off so lightly. I hated having him on the Flames, and didn't watch a single game (at least during the regular season) while he was on the team.
However, I have no objection if he wants to play hockey for free on his own time. I don't like that he's coaching a junior B team, but the chances that he'll run out on the ice and attack an opposing player are pretty much zero, so I can't object very strenuously to that, either.

I echo a lot of your sentiments, but its here that I have to disagree.
Look, I dont know anything about Bertuzzi (other than damned amazing backhand) but as a player and a coach in my lifetime I've made mistakes.
Granted, none of my mistakes carried consequences or damages like his, but still, mistakes are how you learn.
Maybe he learned from Crawford that you should never tap a player on the shoulder and tell him to kill another player, or maybe he didn't, I dont know. I'd like to think that he did, and perhaps that might make him a better coach. I simply dont know.

my cousin is the same age as Bertuzzi and would have played against him up through and including the OHL. unfortunately the NHL wasn't in the cards for my cousin although he was arguably the top Canadian senior men's player for 10-15 years, he retired not all that long ago (it feels like anyhow). I sent him the story and hinted he should come out of retirement and he did respond that 'he was at the gym at the moment LOL ' so who knows- it's kinda neat that he's giving this a go

I should make it clear that when I say I don't like it, I am talking about my feelings rather than my principles. My principles say there's no reason why he shouldn't have that job; it just makes me feel uncomfortable to think about it.
So there's less disagreement between us than meets the eye.
