Yep, not surprising at all, if they made the playoffs he probably would’ve received quite a few more.

Montgomery finishing 4th and Huska 11th just seems like 100% recency bias. The teams both had 96 points and Montgomery was fired early on. Yet he finishes just outside the top 3 coaching two teams who were expected to be well ahead of the Flames.
Tells me that the people voting on this award maybe follow one team.

All the writers who picked the Flames bottom 5 giving St. Louis votes for getting 91 points with the Habs

To be fair, Montgomery went 34-16-6 with the Blues, including that insane winning streak to get them into the playoffs, and he obviously wasn't the problem in Boston.

Not the 3rd best coaching job in the NHL probably...91 points, lost more games than they won, -20 goal differential
He got votes because they made the playoffs which is kinda * considering they basically made it by default

Jack Adams is always about outperforming expectations, which is why the Jon Coopers of the world rarely win.
Who had Montreal on their bingo card card to make the playoffs? And yes, they did make the playoffs.

Sure, but the Habs looked dead in the water earlier in the season, and people were talking about St Louis getting fired.
