Default Janes Addiction start scrapping each other....during a show

Quote:
Rock band Jane’s Addiction have released a statement after their show in Boston ended abruptly halfway through, due to a fight between frontman Perry Farrell and guitarist Dave Navarro.

At the Leader Bank Pavilion on Friday (13 September), Farrell reportedly shouted at Navarro during the ninth track of the set, “Mountain Song”, with tensions building further as the gig continued.

Then, as the band were performing their 1988 song “Ocean Size”, video footage showed Perry appearing to bark at Navarro before walking over to him and aggressively shoving him with his shoulder.

As Navarro spoke to him and put his hand on Perry’s chest to try and keep him away, the singer then appeared to take a swing at him with his fist before being tackled by crew members and pushed off the stage.
Just absurd.

Pfft...bands these days! Its like they all have an HR department!

When was the last time you saw a frontman smash his drummer's face into a high-hat? Or someone swing a guitar at a band-mate?

Its been too long. I think bands have gotten complacent.

I saw something online after another show on this tour form someone saying Perry really needed to dry out and seemed hella loaded. So I don't think ya can blame Dave.

ok so I saw an early show on this tour in LA- sorta last minute decision- was down there to watch baseball, but we got great prices on tickets (venue was full though, just got lucky last minute)

great crowd and vibe really. Perry's voice was not great- but its always been more unique than great and the band- maybe because I've never seen Navarrro live before- was really great esp him. we had a fun time- obviously- and perhaps not surprisingly the vibe has changed

show I saw:

I read a comment that Perry was frustrated with the stage volume of the guitars that lead to him straining his voice before this show. Might have had something to do with it.

I've played with guys before who are constantly cranking up, no concern for anyone else. At this stage of their career you would think they run things a bit more professionally but you never know.

Phil and Don Everly
Ray and Dave Davies
Glen Frey and Don Felder

Epic onstage fights.

I saw them in 2009 at the Gorge, as part of a Sasquatch Festival. That was one of the best live performances I've ever seen.

That being said, I'm not at all surprised the band is fighting again. They've been fighting their whole careers. It's been a pretty regular cycle of fights, break ups, and then someone backing up a truckload of money again to get them to play a tour.

If Farrell's voice is starting to go, that could be the end. A big part of what made the live shows so great was Farrell's energy.

They were my favourite band at one time, hence my user name on here. They are still on my regular playlist.

I really wish I could have seen them in the late 1980s before their commercial success when they were playing random shows in the desert or at the beach. That scene sounds like it was crazy. I was too young at the time and way too far removed from the California underground to even know about them at that time though. A lot of people give Nirvana credit for being the breakthrough band that pushed rock music away from the arena rock glam bands at the time, but personally, I think it started more with Jane's Addiction.

Not surprised about the fight though. Between Farrell and Navarro, that is too much ego to go around. They both like to be the center point of the band, and both are just kind of odd people.

I saw the band issued an apology today and cancelled their next show. The story mentioned the part where Farrell was frustrated because Navarro was playing to loud and drowned out the vocals. He claimed that fans in the front rom told him that they couldn't hear the vocals. I read on another forum though that Farrell was drinking and sounded like crap, and that Navarro was trying to take attention away from him. I guess both are probably true.
