[Rumour] Flames add Tyson Barrie PTO?

Seems completely irrelevant on a day like today but it sounds like the Flames will be bringing Tyson Barrie in on a PTO.

I wondered about this the other day, if we'd see him brought in and what that may mean for Rasmus and the rumor he's looking to move on.

Good competition for camp. He might also step up on PP2 if we trade Andersson.

He seems like a good guy in the locker room, that's well liked by his teammates.

One risk here is that Barrie is likely too good to be on a PTO, and if a team offers him a contract, he can leave any time. I don't think Calgary should bank on that situation unless a contract was in hand (even if it's an affordable one).

^ Flames have nothing but cap space, and I'd imagine any contract offer to Barrie wouldn't be insurmountable. If he shows well, they'll likely keep him unless the other team is a contender or more desirable market to Tyson I suppose.

When I think of Barrie, I think of the time McAvi and Draisaitl laughed at him in the post game for thinking a pass was for him. It was a peak behind the curtain… he’s been in that room.

I read speculation last night (not a serious rumor) that the Flames are considering bringing in Steven Lorentz, Kailer Yamamoto, and Filip Zadina on PTO’s.

Lorentz is a 6’4” checking line center/winger who plays a physical game and can skate. He scored 10 goals a couple of years back.

I just read that Zadina signed a PTO with Buffalo.
