Long name players were originally shortened when I put out the first list of players for the prospect rankings.

Fits better in the code if you take out the first name.

Koumontzis is extended because he popped up fully in the autofill.

hard to know with the non Wolf goalie tier- hard for me- and probably any of us to get a read on them


but looks like last year Sergeev was about 10 spots ahead of Yegorov and dropped about 10 this year so a similar fate may play out


going Bell for now then Yegorov is in a group - which I think includes Ciona, Schwindt, Hurtig, Hoskin that all feel pretty valid for me and remarkable to still be choosing from by 30th


even beyond that there are a couple names that aren't complete lost causes at all

Maybe a little Early for Hunter Laing on this list but this is a neat article about the kid. His WHL numbers don't jump off the page, but folks are speaking highly of what he has been doing to improve his game off the ice.

“Jarome has been watching him over time and he sees a big man who has gotten better consistently,” said Flames general manager Craig Conroy, who hired his longtime linemate and close pal last summer as a special adviser. “So he was pretty excited when we were able to get him. Really, Jarome had a big say in that pick.”

Hunter is really smart. You can see the hockey sense right away,” Button said. ”And the bloodlines are important because he has been around hockey. So the training part, it’s ingrained in him. He knows what he has to do.

“He’s going to take a little more time. He’s a big kid, and he’s still growing into his body. But the brain and the work ethic and the commitment … I talked to (Cougars coaches) Mark Lamb and Jimmy Playfair, and he’s in good hands there with them. Jimmy sent me a text and he said, ‘This kid, he’s going to play, but you have to be patient with him.’ Because he has to go through all those growing pains.”

What Button said: “Total Terry Doran pick, who watched him a lot in Cobourg. Saw him a lot at the World Junior-A Challenge, he was really good there but not big enough window for us to say definitively what he was going forward … Skilled, smart, going to Niagara next year. He’s gone through a draft, he’s an older kid but lots of time to develop and going to school really helps with that development time.”

The Canadian Junior Hockey League (CJHL) announced Thursday that Cobourg Cougars (OJHL) forward Trevor Hoskin has been named its Most Valuable Player for the 2023-24 campaign.

Hoskin earned the accolades over fellow MVP finalists Luka Sukovic, Bonnyville Pontiacs (AJHL); Alex Blais, Rangers de Montreal (LHJAAAQ); Lucas Signoretti, (F) Espanola Paper Kings (NOJHL) and Kian Bell, (F) Battlefords North Stars (SJHL), following a voting process completed by the CJHL’s nine-member leagues, for their respective efforts during the course of the regular season.

The 19-year-old Belleville, Ont., product earlier collected CJHL Top Forward honours as well as Ontario Junior Hockey League MVP, top scorer and first team all-star recognition.

A 100-point run in Cobourg saw Hoskin score 42 times and dish out 58 assists in 52 contests.

Among his tally totals, nine were game-winners, an additional nine markers came via the power play while four were supplied when the Cougars were shorthanded.

He also competed for Team Canada East at the most-recent World Junior A Hockey Challenge in Nova Scotia where he went on to be named to the all-tournament team, in helping his side win a silver medal.

Hyman had 102 pts in 43 games in the OJHL
E. Rodrigues had 54 pts in 37 games
Coglilano had 102 in 49
M. Marchment had 43 pts in 51 games
Cammalleri had 103 in 41

Super cherry picked as there are lots of guys who put up big numbers in this league who didn't play in the NHL, but....."insert there's a chance gif"

Not to be a bit of Debbie Downer, but Hoskin was an older player. He turned 20 in May and was playing against kids as young as 15. You've got players in the top 10 of the OJHL scoring who are undrafted.

yes, but he also went to the world Junior A championship and dominated against the best Junior A players in the world, most of whom were 18-19 years old.

It will be really interesting to see how he does in college against peers.

After much deliberation, went Hurtig - have a feeling he'll surprise this season. Plus, he has an easy theme song of Axel F...

Bell (probably deserving of higher...), Yegorov, Hoskin all admittedly intrigue me in this ranking range...

With Hoskin, I imagine a big part of him being drafted was the eye test and not just the gaudy numbers. I am sure Flames scouts are aware that an older junior player, particularly in the OJHL will have an advantage, but they must have saw things they liked about his game. I guess we will see if the scout or scouts that dialed in on him, have a keen eye or not.

One of the articles mentioned the last time the Flames made 10 picks, it was in the 2004 draft class. I looked up that draft class. Funny. One thing stood out to me.



Johan Franzen was drafted in the 3rd round, 97th overall to Detroit.

Again, how is it that we are to round 26, and still have 2 guys that have already played NHL games left in the pool to pick from?

Our prospect pool is better than its ever been before.
