Ryan Hartman admits deliberate high-stick on hot mic
Refs have no control over games so players take action.
https://russianmachineneverbreaks.co...nary-measures/
Quote:
When meeting with the media afterward, Perfetti revealed that Hartman told him the high-stick that bloodied him was deliberate retaliation for a cross-check that Jets defenseman Brenden Dillon laid on Wild star Kirill Kaprizov the night prior. Kaprizov is expected to be out week-to-week due to the upper-body injury.
Hartman was not penalized during the game and escaped even worse supplemental discipline due to a weird quirk in an NHL media-related rule.

Seems pretty obvious to me that they wouldn’t use the audio from mic’d up players to hand out punishments. Otherwise we would have never seen the product. They’ll just take it away.

Refs have no control over games? Did you see the cross chek on Kaprizov? It wasn't even that hard as they were in the corner battling for the puck. It just happened to hit him in the right spot and injure him but far from viscous. This is that same retaliation garbage we see anytime a top player takes a hard but clean hit and totally unnecessary for Harman to cheap shot Perfetti.

Hartman is a POS, same guy who took out Ehlers last year when Stanley fell into Kaprizov. Now he goes and does this and then more B.S. against the Flames the following game. Guess that 4k fine really showed him to smarten up.

I'm a little surprised Perfetti put it out there for the public. It probably doesn't become a thing otherwise.

Exactly. When I saw him talk about it all I could think of is that he will take the biggest brunt of this for exposing "the code".

I don't know why anyone would come out at Perfetti... if we're talking code high sticking a guy as payback instead of fighting is a loser move

Hartman is a loser with a history of being such.

Explain to me this "code". Dillon cross checks krill in a seemingly routine play and he gets hurt. Dillon then has to fight and answer the bell. The next game Lowry does as well. Hartman isn't satisfied so he literally slashes a guy in the face because the response isn't good enough. If that's a code that's pathetic, and Hartman is a clown.

The code makes no sense and is also completely idiotic in what is semi-comprehensible, but its "the code".

Clean hits = Pure evil. Extreme repentance required.
Horse collaring and "Bertuzzi"ing in the back of the head. Attempted murder by kicking with a skate = Honorable defense of the code. Devine blessing required.

I heard them talking about this during the game last night and it was pretty apparent how goony the Wild are as a team. Hartman is going to get crucified the next time he runs afoul of league discipline.

You have to ask St. Kassian. 'The Keeper of the Code!'

Part of the code is ‘you go after our stars, we’ll go after yours.’ It’s dumb, but it’s a thing.

It seems to me the Wild are one of the chippier teams in the league. Erickson Ek is a bit of a prick I think. One of those good if he’s on your team, easy to hate when he’s on the other team.

For sure. That's the code, keep things on the ice...and why the audio can't be used.
But, puzzling thing is he didn't tell his teammates after it got told to him, so if he was so concerned about it? As per the link, Bowness said he heard about it after the game and they as a team would've dealt with Hartman differently if they knew during the game.
Bowness could be blowing smoke too, also knowing a lot gets said and threatened on the ice and nothing comes of it.

Meh. This is nothing.
If anything, the negative fan reaction to it is the exact reason why we'll never be able to grow NHL entertainment into including non-filtered mic'd up moments like that.
