If you could get Uber Eats to do the trick or treating, as well, we can eliminate the middle man...err...kid all together .

Leftover and candy corn should never go in the same sentence.

At least you're not handing out raisins.

Taking my little guy out for the first time, he was too small last year.
Looking forward to trick or treating as a parent for the first time.
Especially because he's only 1, so we get to eat all the candy!

Don’t joke about that. My friend one time found a Snickers in his bag, it was horrifying.

I never understood the hype of full sized candy bars at Halloween. Even as a kid I preferred multiple fun-size bars for variety, plus it was easier to gorge myself on the smaller ones vs having one big bar and the parents saying "Ok that's enough for tonight"

Have you seen how chintzy the companies are with these “fun-size” bars now? It’s pathetic. You’d have to eat 20 of them to gorge!

I have this vivid memory of collecting coins for UNICEF during my trick or treating.
Two questions: Am I alone in this memory, or does anyone else remember doing this? and; Are kids today collecting for UNICEF? Does anyone even give a #### about that program anymore?

Definitely had those when I went around as a kid, but I think they had to do away with them 15-20 years ago when kids were getting robbed.

There are always pros and cons. Variety is obviously a good thing but with variety also comes getting the candies you don't like. I'd rather get a single full size that I like than a handful where I like 2, am okay with 1 and dislike 2. The worst situation would be a full size bar that I hate.
I have enough variety between Oh Henry, Twin, Areo, Snickers, Reese's, Cookies and Cream that the earlier kids can pick what they like.

Robbing a charity for hungry kids in Africa and Asia....Jesus H. Christ, that's low.
Thanks for the heartbreaking update. The human species is doomed.

I remember the UNICEF boxes too. Usually collected a decent amount of money if memory serves. I think the move to cashless everything probably also contributed to their demise.
EDIT: Looked it up as I was interested and they canned the program in 2006 as the money of money they collected wasn't worth the effort put into the campaign: https://www.cbc.ca/news/canada/unice...anada-1.618474
Seems like my memory wasn't that great that we collected a lot... maybe it felt like a lot to kids but wasn't really substantial for UNICEF?

I was just asking someone about Unicef yesterday as I have a bunch of odd change lying around.
Shame that it's gone.
