How Do You Think the Flames Will Do This Year?
1. Win the cup
2. A playoff run past the second round
3. Make playoffs and loose in the first or second rounds.

I think out of every team in the NHL, the Flames have probably the most potential real estate for where they can fall. I can literally see them going anywhere from top 4 in the conference to 10th depending on how a lot of the question marks play out.
So I'll just pick a spot and say 7th in the West. They'll go on a tear for part of the year where they look like a top team, but will also go through some big slumps.
I fully expect them to be a lot more fun to watch this season though, no matter what happens.

With the current roster, they should be a playoff team.
If this roster loses Lindholm, Hanifin, Tanev and Zadorov at various points throughout the season via trade, they are not a playoff team.

They'll be in the mix for a playoff spot for sure. I can't see Huberdeau or Markstrom being as bad as they were last year again. I think 3rd in the division is there for the taking.

I honestly think they win the Cup this season.
Backlund in his rightful place as captain.
Team galvanized by the Chris Snow news.
Huberdeau and Weegar playing to their potential.
Goaltending good again.
A couple of savvy moves at the deadline and it all comes together.

Probably a 3 or 4 this year. Good enough to squeeze into the playoffs with the right amount of luck, but not really a contender for the long run. Could also miss if things don't go our way (injuries, etc)

I think they squeak into the 8th slot and upset the first round, but go out round 2. The second round loss will be disappointing, however as a whole the fanbase will be pleased with the season as the team over achieved and had some real bright spots from young up and coming players to get there. This will make us excited for what is to come and leave us satisfied with the direction of the franchise overall.

not making the playoffs, rookie head coach, rookie GM, lost their leading goal scorer, there is too much expectations put on some of the rookies, some core players are getting older and just too much change in general, having said that there not celler dwellers, expect them to draft 12-16 in next year's draft
