Hoping the Flames trade up to grab Cristall. That would be amazing. They've done this in the past too, see Kylington.

Knowing hardly anything about anyone, I think I'd be happy with Cristall, dragicevic, Heidt, Sawcyn, Gauthier or Brindley.

Be interested to hear from those who know more (you know who you are).

There are couple Slovakian and Check Ds too. Would be nice if we can find couple of D's like our Andersson or D with higher ceilings.

If you don't mind me interjecting, I have to say you've hit the nail right on the head! Those are some enticing names. I have a lot of love for Heidt, but I also have a soft spot for his teammate, Koehn Ziemmer- who reminds me of a poor man's Ryan Leonard. Ok, a very poor man's Ryan Leonard.

-I also have a soft spot for Coulson Pitre- hard-nosed power-forward.
-Anton Wahlberg is a big power-forward who skates very well.
-Lenni Hameenaho would be amazing, but Jesse Kiiskinen would be better, as Hammy has skating issues.
-Mathieu Cataford isn't the best skater, but he's being criminally underrated.
-Kalan Lind isn't huge, but he's a tasmanian devil. Ditto for Ethan Gauthier.
-I think D should maybe be a priority in rounds 2-3, and there's no going wrong with any of the above names. Dragicevic should be gone by our pick, but I love Etienne Morin and Beau Akey. Strbak is a two-way D with size.
-I have another soft spot for 3 defenseman, and 1 of them will probably be available at our 3rd round pick: Quinton Burns, Tristan Bertucci, and Gavin McCarthy.

Would absolutely love if Anton Wahlberg is still available at 48.

Kalan Lind is a dirty prick who runs away any time he is confronted for his BS dirty plays. Definitely don't want him. He isn't one of those hate to play against him, love to have him guys he is a Matt Cooke style dirty coward player.

Would love to get Cristall but he seems like a guy that will go in the first few picks of the 2nd round. Easier to take the boom/bust risk on him after you have your top end first rounder already in place.

Dragicevic another guy that I would love for us to add.

I have no idea how far Cristall will fall. Seems like an early second round guy but his skating is such a red flag he could tumble further

Given the paucity of defencemen in the system, a few more would be helpful. All things being equal of course.

Sandman, have you done a writeup about Gracyn Sawchyn? I watched a video and he looks like he plays with Ciona? Wonder if the Flames have scouted him

-Gracyn Sawchyn is a right-handed C for the powerhouse Seattle Thunderbirds, and put up 58 points in 58 games playing 2nd and 3rd line duties behind some older, talented offensive players. Sawchyn is one of those players who doesn't do anything at an elite level, but he also has no weaknesses. He skates quite well, but it's augmented by his high motor and compete level. He does a lot of the little things a team needs to win-he's tenacious and aware in all zones, and is an excellent defensive player, with a penchant for causing turnovers, and frustrating opponents, taking away time and space. He forechecks and backchecks hard, and similarly, he's equally good on both sides of the transition. He's smart, has vision and IQ, but keeps it relatively simple, and doesn't try to do too much- his shot and passing game are not necessarily high-end, but he gets the job done. If he were on a different team, with more minutes, this kid might just be first-round material.

Find a way to get Heidt.

Jarome's vote is probably for Cristall though.

I don’t think Cristal makes it past Chicago at pick 35. Pretty sure Bedard mentioned him as one of the smartest players he’s ever played with/against. I could see Chicago using that pick to make their new superstar happy with the organization right off the bat… plus it’s a good pick to make at this point in the draft anyways.

Thanks! He looks like a high-motor kind of player. Might be worth a pick in the second or third round imo

If he was playing higher up the lineup, he would've had a much higher offensive output, and probably would have gone in the latter third of the first, at least.

Seattle has another potential hidden gem in 6'3" winger Nico Myatovic. Like him a lot.
