Meloche has a higher cap hit. Don't think they have the cap space to call him and another player up.

Maybe Sutter doesnt really plan on playing them and instead intends to really shorten his bench so may as well keep Meloche playing games in the AHL?
Its a theory but this is all kinds of grim. We need Tanev back in the worst way.

Hmm I do not pay too much attention to Gilbert when I watch the Wranglers but I did think he was making the most dumb mistakes defensively and did not do anything useful on offence, not sure if he will be any improvement over Mackey. Doubt Gilbert plays

I think the cap—as pointed out by sureloss—has more to do with it, but I would agree, and am betting that the Flames will play on the road predominantly with only two pairs. This is far from ideal, but it's something they should be able to get through for a short spell.
Playing the current top four a tonne may actually prove better than having Stone available.

Based purely on play this year, it seems like DeSimone has earned this. I wouldn't have guess this prior to the beginning of the season.

Le sigh...I think thats what we're realistically looking at.
I hope Zadorov and Co. have been really working on their cardio and endurance because they're going to be logging 'Hero Minutes' for the foreseeable future.

Happy for DeSimone, he’s always looked pretty decent when I’ve watched him. Don’t know if he’ll be able to take NHL pace but hopefully he gets into a game over useless Gilbert.

DeSimone is a good player. He's typically been a PP QB with the Heat/Wranglers. I'm curious to see him.
Gilbert ... well, I reserve the right to be positively surprised.
