Man I wish Toffoli was doing some work at altitude. It is a serious issue.

Why wouldn’t he be. He’s going to be the 7th defenseman at his usual $700k.

I was all fired up to get a new jersey this year with Kadri or Huberdeau…. But I might be going for Stone!

Only 11 more one-year contracts until you're the longest serving Flame. I believe in you, Stone.

IDK, he played in the SCF in July the season before last and then had a major injury early in the season. His conditioning being a little off was understandable. Hopefully he got a good summer of work in.

If he doesn't want the job, I'll take it.

I don't know why, since this happens every year, but I am really excited seeing this pictures and knowing the players are already ramping up.

Markstrom's interviews in the past few weeks have been revealing in just how excited the players on the team are about the restructured team. Darryl said as much too, about the players being really excited about the team right now.

Glad to see Pelletier and Valimaki are here early. They must know that they need to blow the doors off to get a starting spot.

Exciting times!

Excited if Stone gets back on this team. Best 7th defenseman in the league by a country mile.

I think (and have assumed all summer) that Stone signing is a given - they just need to work their way through all of the other contractual issues, then ink him up on day 2 of the season.

Don't they need to give Stone a PTO to get him to camp?

Boggles my mind nobody else signs this guy, better than a lot of NHL regulars IMO

That shot is lethal

I’m gonna sound like a newb here. But why isn’t stone a regular? Is it because he doesn’t excel in anything in particular? He’s obviously a stable, reliable player.

Apologies for not understanding that situation

In order to participate in camp, he would need to sign at least a PTO.

It's possible no one is willing to give him more than a league minimum contract and if that's the case, he just might prefer staying in Calgary. I believe his wife is from here and his in-laws live here, so it's probably nice that his kids can be close to their grandparents and probably cousins too.

What's the max AHL salary we can give to Stone to keep him in the org and playing in the Dome?

The Calgary Flames are like a local beer league team for Stone. He just signs up every year and plays. Except he gets US$700k to do it. It's really a great story/situation. I do hope it works out for him again this year.

He's serviceable if you severely limit his even strength minutes and play to his strengths. His footspeed however is a legitimate concern and it heavily hinders his ability to defend in certain situations and makes him non existent in transition (which is a massive part of the game today). He's the perfect guy to keep around as a #8 though and is a consummate professional. He knows his role and he embraces it.
