Flames Seattle trades Pitlick to the Flames for a 2022 4th round pick

https://www.dailyfaceoff.com/seraval...-freeze-lifts/

Quote:
> However, the Kraken are believed to have at least one trade in the hopper for when the NHL’s league-wide trade freeze and signing moratorium opens on Thursday afternoon at 1 o’clock p.m. ET. Forward Tyler Pitlick is expected to be flipped to the Calgary Flames. The return is unconfirmed but Seattle could receive a mid-round pick in exchange. Does the extra third-round pick the Flames acquired from Edmonton in the Milan Lucic trade for James Neal make sense?

this team just loves to piss away mid-round picks for depth players. Infuriating.

Fans: we want Jack Eichel and serious upgrades to the top six

BT: we have Jack Eichel at home

Jack Eichel at home: Tyler Pitlick and Christian Dvorak

A 3rd for an established NHL player is not a big price to pay.

They need a C to play on the bottom line with Ryan probably moving on, and he fits the bill, particularly being a RS.

People will complain about this, but I like Pitlick. For a 3rd or a 4th he will be solid.

I will wait to see whatever moves the Flames make to see if this makes sense. This club sure does like to block their young players coming in though.

Like I mentioned in another thread. In isolation this isn’t a big deal but taking a step back and seeing how many times Treliving has done this and pretty much every single player he paid picks for outside of Hamilton has been mediocre to bad I am sick of it.

Pretty much a Bollig move.

Not going to crucify Treliving for this, it was these types of moves that Sutter first made as GM that really made an impact in 2004 (Nieminen, Nilsson, Simon etc.). He actually made a nice hockey trade his first summer, getting Warrener and Reinprecht for Drury.
That's the kind of move I'm looking for.

Right shot with size. Hopefully this trade is a bit of an afterthought once the season begins.

Nothing like constantly chasing other teams 4th liners and giving up assets!

Internal 4th liner - League Min/Close and no assets

External - Twice the $$ and pay draft picks!

This is another move that you make if you are very close to being a Stanley Cup winner, and a tiny marginal improvement could make the difference.

I'm excited for giving up assets and overpaying for #5 and 6 D men as well

Now maybe I'm jaded because BT has constantly missed on filling out the 4th line and lower D and just overpayed in $$ and assets, but this just doesnt seem required when you have glaring holes you need cap $$ for

This is a move for now whilst draft picks are for the future and some new GM to deal with.

I don’t know why Treliving doesn’t just save the draft picks and instead just hovers over the waiver wire. It’s the same players!

Nah the franchise might as well fold right now thanks to this move.
