Pens trade Kessel + 4th to Arizona for Galchenyuk + PO Joseph

Elliotte Friedman @FriedgeHNIC
Well, I can’t get confirmation from either team, but there is word tonight PIT/ARIZ are working on a Phil Kessel deal. Stay tuned, let’s see where it goes.

Darren Dreger @DarrenDreger
PO Joseph and Galchenyuk to Pittsburgh for Kessel and a 4th round pick.

Fascinating. Kessel in Arizona seems like such a weird spot for him to land to me, haha.

Isn't this the one most people saw coming? I'm pretty sure it had been rumoured for a while.

He's good buddies with Tocchet no?

His cap hit is higher than his actual salary. I think he gets $7M this season and then $6M and $6M. That could work out well for Arizona.

It has been known for a long time that Arizona was one of Kessel's preferred destinations. He and Tocchet have a very good relationship.

What?? Why would the Coyotes give up Galchenyuk after just trading for him?

Seems like a big win for the Pens if true.

Not a bad deal if it is 1 for 1.

Galchenyuk is UFA after this season. Yotes may not feel comfortable that they are going to be able to re-sign him.

Galchenyuk is probably going to take off in PIT.

Good swap.

Because Galchenyuk's play fell off a cliff in PHX?
