At this point I hope Edmonton wins out against all odds to be in position to get into the playoffs only to have Calgary crush those hopes.

Our number to clinch is still 3 (or 1.5, depending on how you like to look at it), because there is still a remote chance that the Sharks can win the tiebreaker. But to do so, they must win all 5 of their games with no SOs, and the Flames can't win any more games. So all 9 remaining outcomes have to go the right way for them, or the tiebreaker door is closed.
So to break it down for tonight:
Current number: 3
Sharks win in reg or OT: remains 3
Sharks win in a SO: drops to 2
Sharks get a loser point: drops to 1
Sharks lose in regulation: we celebrate!

As for the conference, NAS can't catch us, and our magic number against the Jets is 1: as soon as the Jets lose a point, or the Flames gain a point, we close them out. So for the Jet games tonight:
Current number: 1
Jets win: remains 1
Jets don't win: we drink!

Yes, unless the Sharks get a loser point, at which point the magic number drops to 1.
It's literally laid out right above your post.

Oilers with another team on 2nd half of back to back that's insane I cant imagine how far down they would be if the nhl wasn't constantly gifting them tired teams

Next year the Oilers will also go on the same road trips as us, one day behind.

Is that a dynamic schedule where they only play teams below them in the standings?

Canes are up 2-1 on Philly with about 15 minutes left.
Pretty sure that a regulation loss would eliminate the Flyers.
Also, a W would really help the Canes' chances (obviously)

So they would only play 2-3 different teams all year?
