David "Frickin' Big Save Dave" Rittich!
What kind of raise are the Flames looking at? He's RFA at the end of the season.
Assuming Mike Smith's $4.25 million comes off the books.

A pretty substantial raise. He keeps raising his game as the season progresses, and if he keeps this up he will soon be spoken of as one of the elite goaltenders in the NHL.
His save tonight was Rittichulously TeRittich.

He has proven himself a legit #1. At this point the only worry I have in net is if Treliving can get someone in to take some load off Rittich as a capable backup, because Smith doesn't seem up to the task. I don't want BSD burning out before the playoffs

Treliving should start having conversations with Rittich and his agent. Try to get the cap hit down before he explodes and goes on a long run and gets a Connor Hellebuyck contract. I think we’ve seen a big enough sample size to know what we have here. He tracks the puck real well and doesn’t let in stinkers like Mike Smith. I’d sign him to long term deal right now.

Big save Dave
Kisser of posts
Grounder of jets
Drinking from the skulls of his enemies
I’m liking watching this guy blossom into the best goalie we have seen in a long long time

I'm getting very close to considering him a true #1 Goalie. I am still hesitant to say that so quick given how iffy Goalies are, so I'll wait some more games. But if he keeps this up, then there is no doubt.

Rittich at this point is a solid 1B goalie soon go be a true starter. He should be signed regardless for next season.

Though the sample size is still pretty small, he sure looks like a guy who has figured it out and is excelling after doing so.
At the end of camp I was one of the more vocal about getting him out of town as fast as possible as he looked horrible for the most part, along with all G's in camp. Others saw something in him. (FDW for sure but others as well)
I was wrong about him. Dead wrong.
He really does look like a true #1 and trending towards elite at that.
Still a long way to go, but BT has some time to figure it out...thankfully.

Goaltenders come from all sorts of nooks and crannies. You don't expect much then, BAM!
Not quite sure where he'll settle out, but he's a bonafide NHLer moving into his prime.

Let's wait for the all star break before calling him a true #1. Another 10-15 games if he continues this goaltending I will change my opinion.

Scoring Winger

What you guys maybe do not realize is that he has had a starter season already when he played 58 games as he carried a bottom feeder team to the playoffs and first round win in the Czech Extraliga. The role he has now is not new to him. The level of play in the NHL was something he needed to adjust to. Game is much faster and almost everyone can shoot the puck, players are trying it from impossible angles etc. You can see he has figured it out by now.
