Flames lose 5-4 to the Jets in OT
Bleh.
Liked what I saw from Dube, Giordano, Klimchuk, Robinson, and whoever the heck Ryan Jankowski is.

I know it's just preseason but I'm not getting a warm and fuzzy feeling about the state of the team's goaltending.

Not a really impressive game after the 1st period. Especially for quite a few guys fighting for spots.
Liked Dube, Ryan, Bread, Gio, Hanifin, and Lindholm as well other than that mistake at the end.

Tune in from Mexico just in time to watch the OT goal.
Damnit. Looked like a risky pass from Lindholm.

As I said in the GT I’ve been more entertained by the Flames this preseason than all of last year.

Hasn’t been the most inspiring stretch of pre-season games.
Random thoughts:
- Hamonic is not impressing me
- Smith is not impressing me
- Dube continues to wow me
- Hanifin looks great
- Ryan is smart
- Mangiapane looks good, but will make good use of another year in the AHL
Overall I saw a mixed bag.

Dube was outstanding. Jankowski was all over the place in a good way. Time to trim the roster down and get the team squared away. Flames need a goaltender.

That was not a good game. CGY need to clean a lot up. Especially wingers handling rims in their own end. Have to be able to slow fast teams down.
Offence was in spurts with 2 kind of lucky goals. Need to generate more consistently

Nah, I'm not that worried. Preseason is preseason. Smith will be ready to go for October.
Also, I thought both Gillies and Rittich looked really good against the Nucks the other night.

Treliving has one task ahead of him...can he make $10.5M fit into the cap structure of team going forward?
Yeah, I was concerned about Smith before and he’s done nothing to put me at ease.

Hopefully. Smith's at that age though where the decline can come without notice which is why I've been a little uneasy about this season. He seems to be getting beat on shots that you would hope for your number one goaltender to stop.

Sure but there wasn't one line playing in this game that will be together on the 3rd.
Also tough to blame Smith in a game like that

Hanifin looked good. Eat bread was smart. Really liked his game. Dube turned it on in the third, didn't do much otherwise. Valimaki was good too. Anderson seemed to forgot how to pass.

Smith wasn’t great in preseason last year either but came out hot. Not concerned.

Overall, Flames played great aside from a couple awful stretches. Valimaki and Andersson both had a few great moments but overall didn't play great as a pair.
Jankowski has been a huge disappointment so far this preseason. At this point, I'd honestly have Dube and Mangiapane on the roster over Janko and Hathaway.
Mangiapane has been so consistent every single game. No doubt he's NHL ready.
Right now, my forward lines would be:
Gaudreau-Monahan-Lindholm
Tkachuk-Backlund-Neal
Bennett-Dube-Czarnik
Mangiapane-Ryan-Frolik
Jankowski has been a big disappointment for me. Even the last half of last season he was playing poorly.
