Default Angry Preds fan sends dead catfish to NHL offices

Quote:
“We all saw that goal last night,” said Meeks. “Me and my dad were jumping up and down. We were hollering, woke the baby up and everything. Then they overturned it. The excitement was so huge and then it was devastating. Someone on the fan page posted the address for the situation room and said that someone should send a catfish to it. So I did. I felt compelled.”

“I went to Little’s Fish Company in Germantown because I knew they had catfish,” Meeks said. “I went there and bought two catfish. I called UPS asking if you can send fish through the mail. They knew what I was doing. So, I went down there and this man, the manager of the UPS Store, helped me. He said it would have to go through customs, and didn’t want me to spend all this money and it be returned. He called customs for me and made sure that it was okay that I send a dead catfish to a business. They said it was fine. We’re hoping it gets there.”

Maybe the easiest no goal call of the last decade.

Didn't watch the video, but going to assume this was Carrie Underwood that sent it.

Yeah, checked it on youtube. Funny how the puck can come loose when you use your stick to shovel the goalie out of the way. Lots of controversial goalie interference calls this year. This should not be one of them.

The only thing about it was the quickness of the puck coming out, but jamming your stick into the goalies pads and twisting him 45 degrees to have it come out, is pretty clear.

Now I know they may be in a battle for the Presidents Trophy, but the faux outrage for a goal call against that is pretty meaningless, is more about individual attention grabbing than anything else. Flyers fans and other bubble EC teams should be more upset then Preds fans.

There have been tons of much worse calls just this season. Preds fans seem pretty sensitive about this kind of thing. Like throwing things on the ice against the Flames when they didn't really even come close to scoring and it was ruled no goal on the courtesy review. I remember I put this in the GT or PGT of that game but man they would have a hard time with some of the calls the Flames or other teams have had to deal with. I guess some fanbases are a little more numb to it.

I was surprised to never hear more about that "goal" the Avs scored against the Flames that never crossed the line but the ref half a mile away was frantically pointing at the net like he was celebrating the goal. Just another day at the office around here though I guess.

edit: then it went upstairs where they got to have a close up view of the puck not crossing the line and still didn't overturn the call.

Of the multiple times the NHL screws up the call, this guy protests one they got right.

Not only was it a totally reasonable call, but I'd like to think that the NHL wants to take some steps to reduce the frequency with which players essentially spear the goalie's equipment attempting to poke free a puck that's been covered up or caught. That's not the safest type of play.

Preds fans have become pretty annoying and entitled pretty quickly. I guess a few good seasons in a row will do that.

Well they did kind of get robbed in game one of the SCF last season on that Subban goal called back on a replay for offside even though there was never conclusive evidence. That seemed to turn the tide in that game.

Quote:
Poile is anything but a controversial figure. He is an NHL lifer who is clearly uncomfortable rocking the boat. He watched the replay of the disallowed goal, he said, “at least 50 times.” And he still doesn’t understand the coach’s challenge offside call that disallowed a goal by P.K. Subban.
“This is where I’m going to get myself in trouble,” Poile said. “I have not seen a picture yet that is clear enough to show me that the goal was offside. I’ve seen all kinds of angles. I think it’s inconclusive. I have long been a proponent of getting it right, making certain we make the right calls. They’re going to say they got it right. I just don’t see it. It could be offside, it could be, but I don’t see it. And when it’s that close, I don’t how you can make a definitive call.”

They're excellent for the NHL. Canadian fans are hilarious.

First of all, we're (Canadian teams) the most annoying and entitled fans in the NHL. Then we get all up in arms as soon as a non traditional market takes to the game and becomes passionate.

We're so silly. We **** on non traditional markets for not liking hockey, then they start loving it and we **** on them for getting into it.

Fans in Nashville are 100X better than Flames fans in regular season (including when we're actually playing well any season), it's an excellent hockey market and true success story.

Taking in a game at Bridgestone Arena has quickly climbed onto any decent hockey fan's bucket list.

I'm not doing any of that. I'm not knocking them for having a good atmosphere or supporting their team. I'm not ####ting on them for getting into hockey.

They can still be all that and more while still being increasingly annoying and entitled (in my perception). Teams need their fans to come from somewhere and it looks like it's working out well for the Predators.

That doesn't mean the fans and celebrities whining on Twitter understand the rules.

Well to be fair, haven't we all wanted to send Bettman a dead fish or three?

This is absolutely 100% without a doubt pure nonsense. I am sick and tired of reading about how great Nashville’s fans are and how much better they are than us. You know what’s great about Nashville? Their hockey team.

You attend any games in the playoffs? Or in 2015? Our fans were absolutely nuts. Great atmosphere.

Nobody was talking about Nashville and their fans until last year when they had a good team and went on a massive playoff run.

Entertaining hockey breeds good atmospheres. Quit taking shots at Flames fans that aren’t deserved. When our team is winning presidents trophies and going on playoff runs we’ll be every bit as exciting as Nashville fans, and they will be just as apathetic as us when they’re back to mediocrity.

Shame goes for Vegas fans as well. It’s all about on-ice product and has nothing to do with the quality of fans that go to games. To suggest that where someone lives determines how good a fan they are is ridiculous.
