Usually one of the most consistent tenders in the league Schneider is having an off season. He's a .908 before this game and was .924 and .925 the last 2 season. Also a career .922 goalie. I wonder if there giving up more defensively or if he's just struggling. Or both.
Hyman gave Qunicey a little push cross check. Qunicey goes down, the goal is scored. Then Quincey goes ape#### on Hyman and starts crosschecking and then glovepunches Hyman down to the ice and then smacked him with a couple more punches when Hyman was down.
The Panthers are leading the Predators 1-0 about halfway through the second. Shots are 21-11 for the Panthers. The Preds haven't really had much momentum in this game. Goal by Greg McKegg (2nd in 2 games!). Obligatory:

Also, Reimer was the late starter tonight as Luongo was listed as the backup due to an "upper body injury". Luongo has now left the game, leaving the team's emergency goalie, Bobby Seguin, as the only other goaltender in the building for the Panthers.
Reminds me last year of when Luongo left the game with an injury, then Montoya got injured in the game, forcing them to get Robb Tallas to suit up as the backup, and he hadn't played a game since 2001. Both Derek MacKenzie and Scottie Upshall (both forwards) were considering putting the pads on for a while. Montoya attempted to play through his injury, all the while Luongo is on the bench in street clothes. Luongo goes back into the dressing room, suits up again, and finishes the game for Florida.
The Carolina-Chicago game is a rematch from a one week ago where the Hurricanes won 3-2 at home. The home team has won eight times out of the past eleven games. The Blackhawks might continue this trend as they have a 1-0 lead midway through the first period. Toews scored it, Darling and Ward are the goalies.

Why not Tallas again tonight? It seems like fate is sending him a 2nd chance
Couldn't tell you. That's just who they reported as being the emergency backup tonight. Tallas isn't really a great option. He hasn't played in the NHL since 2001 and he's 43 years old now.

Most (ALL?) of the Panthers players have put "FLL" on their skates in memory of the shooting at the Fort Lauderdale airport earlier today, FLL being the call sign for that airport.
Apparently, the Boston Bruins' flight was rerouted to Tampa Bay in the wake of that incident.
As an aside, my wife's aunt had a flight that took off moments before the incident. This one is striking a little too close to home for me.

Bad news: Craig Smith ties the game in the third for the Predators. About 12 minutes left in a 1-1 game. The Panthers are notorious for having games go to overtime, so don't expect this one to be resolved in regulation.

Jonathan Marchessault continues to be the MVP for the Panthers this year, as a bad angle shot gets past rookie goalie Saros (who has been amazing this year too). 2-1 Panthers over Preds.
