The uhhhh, last GoFundMe did not exactly end well here, lest we forget (and how could we? We all now know steroid forums exist). So might get a very weary response here.

Sort of an unrelated question...if the ex-husband isn't complying with a court order, how exactly is it going to help for her to fly to Australia? He's not exactly going to be welcoming, if he doesn't want to give up the children.
Could she seek assistance from the Australian police? (Would they even care about a Canadian court order?)

I thought about that, but I trust the CP community to judge this on its own merits.
I don't think we should let Ian's misadventures spoil things.

I would assume she would bring the judgement with her and have the police there to help get custody. I have no experience in a matter like this though, so I am just going with what makes sense.

I just found a return flight from YYC to Sydney for 1108 dollars in February. Don't know what search she is using.

There is no guarantee she will get the children back by going down there. The Canadian embassy and legal counsel need to get involved, possibly law enforcement as well. I'm not sure this is a well thought out plan.
I remember First Lady making claims here on CP a couple years ago that her daughter knew me in real life at one point. Looking at her picture, I can honestly say I've never met her daughter before let alone know her personally.
Hope it works out.

I'd imagine the cost she listed for flights includes the cost of all four kids coming back to Canada (assuming that can happen). Still, $13-15K is a bit of a stretch.

Probably not fair to lump Jane in with her crazy husband but they've rallied against the left, handouts, occupy movement so much in the past it's hard to not raise an eye at her looking for a helpful handout.

It was 2,500 per adult and 2,000 per kid.

What if Australia granted custody to him? Were the children born in Canada or Australia?
There is a lot of grey area in the story. Is the ex husband unwilling or unable to bring them back? That makes a big difference.

Wow my password still worked !!
First, thanks frinkprof for sharing.
There certainly is a great deal more to this story and a lot of it I cannot share publicly.
I will address some basic questions.
3 of the children are Canadian, the other has a Canadian citizenship application that was started before they left.
The flight total is an estimation based on my own searches for ALL the flights.
With relation to which court hears the matter, it is the court of the country where the action is first filed. I should also point out there are several other agencies beyond the courts who are also involved.
Anyone is free to email directly at jane.morgan@outlook.com if they have any questions.
Also, I have no expectation of members donating. Writing that GoFundMe page was one the most difficult things I've ever done. It is not in my character.

What has been the response of the Australian authorities and the Canadian consulate so far? And Caramon is right, the estimated flight costs are ridiculous.
And can a Canadian court appoint sole custody of a non-citizen outside a country of their citizenship?

We need to fly to Brisbane and we are hoping to do this before month-end, so I searched January.
I'm open to all suggestions.
We are also exploring Airmiles, Aeroplan, etc. A few people are looking into whether they can pool their miles for us.

Interim sole custody? So the plan is to spend $20,000 of other people's money doing this when there's not even a guarantee they'll stay here?

There are never any guarantees in life.
No one is forcing anyone to donate - it's personal choice.
If I had the money, this would already be done.

Well you purposely said "unwilling to or unable to" in regards to the husband. You are causing confusion with that comment and I'm not sure if it on purpose or not but it makes a big difference.
I love donating to causes like this but I'm not really buying the story. For all we know the kids are legally in Australia and she's trying to kidnap them back and your wording isn't helping.
I mean that in the nicest way possible but you shouldn't word something like that. If you're not ready to tell the entire story don't cause confusion with a comment like that. "Unwilling or unable" kind of hints he wants to bring them back to Canada but can't afford to. Is that true?

Thanks for pointing that out.
I worded it that way to protect him from backlash.
I can confirm they are not legally in Australia. They had a "permission to travel" letter and travel Visa's. Both expired long ago.

Yeah well, sure. Good luck. It's pretty poor form to come back to the board after more than 3 years solely to look for handouts to fix your life problems.
