Starting to wonder how long it is until Kulak is sent down.

Lines look good though. Its working, so keep it rolling.

I think with the quality minutes we are getting from stajan and his line this is probably one of the most balanced 4 lines we have seen in recent memory. No real dead weight to speak of. If we can just get Johnny and Monahan going to be a legit top line threat consistently this season we should have more games like our last two and less like our first few

This team is too deep with bottom-4 defensemen and bottom-6 forwards.

We need to make a trade because there is no reason for Kulak or Jokipakka to be sitting (and certainly not at the same time). And there is no reason to send Kulak back down, he's earned his time here.

If we do nothing, the expansion draft is going to hurt us a lot more than other teams.

I agree Jokipakka probably shouldn't be sitting but if the coach wants a more physical iced team against physical teams then bringing in Grossman the odd time is not that bad.

As for Kulak , i like him and like the way he has played, but the only player i can see him taking a place of is Wideman. Have to give Wideman credit that he has not looked all that bad since his press box stint. Kulak should be sent down so he can play.

Not sure why expansion draft is going to hurt us more than other teams? Care to explain.

The Flames won't get hurt anymore than any other team because they have 8 NHL defensemen on the roster. Trading a defenseman now isn't going to change that. You aren't going to trade Jokipakka or Kulak now because you are worried of losing one of them to expansion. Both can contribute now which is what is important. You trade one now, and then you get some injuries to the blueline and next thing you know, Wotherspoon who is not ready and probably never will be, is up playing regular minutes and the team is suffering and we have more ammo for the fire Gulutzan and fire Treliving crowd.

Trading Grossman, Engelland or Wideman has no impact on the expansion draft.

Flames have good depth on defense right now, I don't understand why so many posters think this is a bad thing.

If Kulak needs more playing time, send him to the AHL. There is no need to weaken your depth because fear of the 8 headed defense monster.

Troy Brouwer just left practice after taking an awkward spill in the corner. Seemed to be favouring his right leg. #Flames

On the Sens side of things, goalie Craig Anderson has been granted a leave of absence from the team to deal with a personal matter.

Blessing in disguise? I hear Hammond has been atrocious so far this year.

We're losing Engellend and Wideman this year. And most likely Jokkipakka to Vegas.

We need defensive depth for next year, so I don't think it's a bad thing to have 8 guys. Kulak might be pushed up to our #4 by default and if Wotherspoon can't cut it Engellend will be resigned to be our #6.

Far from "most likely" losing Kevin. I wouldn't automatically assume we resign Engy either. We have a lot of d prospects, and free agency, trades can change a lot of things before that.

Having more depth means you're going to have more talent exposed. We're going to lose a very promising player no matter what trades we can pull off. That said, having the depth in the first place will mean we can replace the position easily. The best player between Kulak, Shinkaruk and Jokipakka will be lost.

The fact you are saying Kulak has played well but is only replaced by Wideman goes to prove my point. He should be getting into more games but because of our depth he continues to be the odd man out and his development is suffering as a result.

For sure someone could jump in front of Kevin, but our team today. He would be the favorite to be gone.

I am more pumped than most about our D prospects but having Kulak plus two rookies is dangerous. Engellend at $900,000 to be our #6/#7 for stability is a move I could get behind.

Have to see about our goalies and Bennett before we start looking at a #4 UFA.

I would be up for re-signing Engelland but I'm not sure that he will want to sign here. I think a lot of teams will take a look at him.

Love it when a coach doesn't sit complacently on good play.

I think he's a prime candidate to sign with LV. Given that it's his off season home and all

Regarding Brouwer, if Gulutzan isn't concerned and he didn't have to be helped off the ice, I wouldn't worry about it too much.
