Calgarypuck Prospect Ranking 2016 - Round 5
It's baaaaaaaaaaaaaack. almost like Shark Week on the Discovery Channel Calgarypuck and the Summer Prospect Ranking has become an institution for rabid Calgary hockey fans.
2013 - Sean Monahan is the top prospect (2013)
2014 - Johnny Gaudreau takes his turn (2014)
2015 - Sam Bennett come on down! (2015)
The last three years have had a prospect named first, and then make an impact right away on the NHL team. Bennett had to have surgery and mop up the OHL first, but all three were big players for the Flames right away.
Will that be the case again this year?
As per usual the vote is up to you. Some see it as most likely to play, some see it as highest ceiling, others see it as a mix of both.
Happy voting!
Round 1 - Tkachuk 83% ( http://forum.calgarypuck.com/showthread.php?t=155575 )
Round 2 - Jankowski 42% ( http://forum.calgarypuck.com/showthread.php?t=155585)
Round 3 - Gillies 65% ( http://forum.calgarypuck.com/showthread.php?t=155591)
Round 4 - Kylington 35% ( http://forum.calgarypuck.com/showthread.php?t=155598)

this one was tough ...
went with Anderssen but almost moved it to Hickey or Shinkaruk. Poirier in the mix as well. Clearly they'll all be top ten in some order before things get a little more interesting.

I voted for Andersson since I voted for him last round.
But like Bingo, I almost switched to Hickey.

Shinkaruk by a hair. Next is deciding between Hickey/Anderssen.

Andersson IMO has the most upside of any Flames prospect not names Tkachuk so I'm sticking with him. Hickey's offensive ceiling is too low IMO to be considered here.

Why is everyone spelling Andersson's name wrong?

I'm going Shinkaruk because he looks like he belongs a little in the NHL. He's got a nose for the net and does enough of the other things well to be useful instead of a liability.
This will be a big camp for him in the fall. He might stick full time if he does well.

Pretty even between Andersson, Hickey and Shinkaruk IMO. I have Andersson next on my list so I stuck with him.

Rasmus was OHL Defenceman of the Year, and Hickey had by all accounts a disappointing season....are people really not voting for Razz because he was out of breath at a midsummer orientation camp?
Rasmus is #3 on my list, Hickey, #7

Pribyl for me. 6'2" winger who put up a pt per game in the KHL when he was only 23. He has the skill and the opportunity in front of him.

Pribyl played in the Czech league, not the KHL.
Comparable to AHL level, so still an impressive season.

Ha - got that mixed up then. I'd probably drop him down a few spots but still have him in my top 10.

I picked Hickey again...don't know why but I just have a feeling he is going to be a player. Andersson is definitely right there as well though, honestly could be a coin toss between the two.

I thought Hickey won last time so I voted Poirier. This one must be Hickey's to lose.

Conditioning and commitment were one of the main reasons Rasmus was expected to go lower than his talent would dictate in his draft year. Follow that with poor conditioning at his first camp and preseason. By the time he shows up to his second prospect camp with poor conditioning even the least reactionary fans on here are going to start expressing concern.

Went Andersson again. Top point producer in the OHL. I think he has a higher upside than Hickey. I think the dmen are more valuable than a small scoring winger (Shinkaruk) although I have him up next after the dmen.
