What are your expectations for the 2016/2017 Flames?
Let's assume they get their goalie. Draft at 6th. Re-sign Monahan and Gaudreau. Already have their new coach so a new system is assured. Anything else is a crapshoot.
That being said, what are your expectations for the team? Playoffs? Division champ? Wild card? Draft lottery?
Last season, expectations were high because of the team's playoff success. Interested to hear what CP expectations are now.

My expectation is for us to finish 5-10 points off the play offs at most. I want us to take a step forward in terms of the playing style, with more defensive stability but also trying to suit the attack minded players we have. I want GG to improve the advanced stats and make us a more sound team. I hope the PP and PK units improve under his stewardship.
If we can find a way to add a top 6 winger or 2, my expectations will be raised, but even with a number 1 goalie added, I'm not sure we'll be able to improve the skaters enough to get into the play offs.
A 4th spot in the division, 8th-9th spot in the conference will do me fine. Take steps forward and look to really break out in the 17-18 season, when we rid ourselves of most of the bad contracts(Wideman, Smid, Engellend etc) and can really look to improve the top 6 with the cap space we'll have.
a lot of oiler taunting. Performance wise, nothing really. They could be world beaters or they could be a bottom 5 team. I just think it'll be entertaining hockey.

Who's "their" goalie? Who did we draft at 6?
Probably best to wait and see who is taken from both those options before making any bold predictions as it's pretty hard to have expectations with an incomplete roster.
You cheer for them to win games and you hope they are playing for a playoff seed. I'm an ultra optimist and hope for playoffs every year. I think with a goalie this team can be a playoff team.
Overall:
Be competitive - don't care too much about final position, but playoffs always a bonus.
Better PK and PP (they could hardly be worse than last year).
Faster and harder to the puck.
Lose the stretch pass - mostly.
Coaches:
React better to in-game situations; make better adjustments to general systems.
Make better last-few-minutes reads on who is playing well that game.
Goalies:
Stop a beachball from going in the net! (Just kidding - but it felt like that last year.)
All the "not stars":
Believe in yourselves, play your best game, don't be lazy and think.
All the stars:
Get better - stick to the systems (goes back to coaches, above).
Fans:
Support your team through everything!
CP posters:
(Nah --- not going there!)

I'd like to see them make the playoffs or at least be very close to getting in. Also want to see a much better team GAA and goalie stars from last year (shouldn't be hard)
This question could be seriously up in the air until we found out who our goalies are going to be. Playoffs or none, I at least expect us to place better than last year and have more points by moving away from Hartley's system. But who knows, we could still be in terribad lottery territory. Who knows if Gulutzan will be any better? I personally think he will be but you never know. For god's sake, just be better than the Oilers and Canucks at least - there should be no excuse to be worse than them this year.
Next year is the huge one IMO, that should definitely be the one where we take the big, big step forward. 2017-18 is the one where we need to make the playoffs semi-comfortably if not outright, losing can no longer be an excuse after 2016-17. I'll give 2016-17 trial run, "let the chips fall where they may and try to enjoy the season no matter what" status.
If we get a good goalie in the offseason - close to playoffs or playoffs.

I think they will take a step forward, but that there are still some holes in the roster. I do think the young guys will all improve in their play. But unless some other teams regress in our conference, it will be hard to make the final 8.
We will be in year 4 of the rebuild and I am not expecting to make the playoffs. I'm going in with the frame of mind that there is still work to do. If we do make it that's great. But it's not an expectation of mine.
