Good. He'll get a game here or there to show he might belong in the NHL. If he's awful again, we can move on from him knowing full well he had enough chances to prove he's an NHLer.

Treliving saw the extent of TO's tank and raised them an Ortio. You want to ice the Marlies? We'll bring up a goalie who gets blown out by the Marlies.

I think one thing we all forget about Ortio is that he is still only 24, historically goalies take longer to mature and find their game than forwards and D. I would still give him a two-way next year and make him prove himself once again.

Maybe Edmonton will trade him for Brossoit, they are pretty dumb.

Jonas Hiller isn't good enough to be a full time starter anymore. This is the best chance Ortio will ever have to grab the net.

You really think he'll get enough chances to answer that question? I don't think there's a chance he gets that many.
He had two this year, and he might get two more. That's not enough to prove or disprove anything, especially with a young goalie.

Taking a while to get to 5000

One game every 2 days between February 15th and March 11th. Including a set back to back. He'll get at least one start.

3rd option should be - would put a Vet Dman in net before Ortio...
Seriously tho, can anyone really predict what Hartley will do? The guy has been all over the map when it comes to this roster this year.

Doubt he gets any starts but it doesn't make a difference even in his starts apart from a couple he hasn't really been great maybe average at best

Joni Ortio totally and completely pooped the bed when given his opportunity. The Flames are trying to win games, should they have given him 5 more games as an audition?

I'm a little pessimistic on Ramo. I could see his injury being quite a lengthy one.
If so, then it's only a matter of time until Ortio gets a start...especially given this rough schedule and Hiller's general lack of ability to play a full 60 minutes.

Ortio hasn't good enough to be a full-time starter in the AHL. He has not earned nor does he really deserve another start.

Yes, he had 2 this year and he was pretty awful both times. Like much, much worse than either Hiller or Ramo were at that time, and they were playing their worst hockey of their careers.
I've been hoping Ortio would finally figure it out, but if he can't grab the job with the situation that happened to start the year, then I doubt he ever will. He's had problems with the start to seasons, and has often taken multiple weeks to get in game shape. You can't have that in the NHL. Your goalies need to be ready from day 1. It's the same reason I want to move on from both Hiller and Ramo.
He's had moments where he looks like the 2nd coming of Kipper. Then he has moments where he looks like the 2nd coming of "Red Light" Racicot. If he shows up this time around and stinks, he's done as far as I'm concerned.

You're wrong on this. He's been remarkably consistent. You just don't like what he's doing.
