Default Home Automation (Z-Wave)

Hey,
Just curious if anyone is running home automation, specifically the z-wave protocol items.
Seems there 1 good online store in Canada, aartech, and most of the rest is in the US.

Any local or good Canadian ones?

never looked into them, but imo you'll regret spending money on home automation right now. We're still learning how the industry is going to operate from a technical standpoint. Apple and Google are both positioning themselves, etc.

I have a multitude of Insteon products (outdoor camera, multiple indoor cameras, light switches, open/close sensors, motion sensors, door locks etc.) and LOVE them. It's super user-friendly and no monthly fees. They also seem very chummy with Apple which is good for their future Homekit. I buy most of mine from smarthome.ca because they have a wide selection but you can buy some devices at Best Buy and Costco.

I have all Insteon here, and an ISY controller. Most of it from Aartech. Good company to deal with. Memex stocks some Insteon stuff now as well.

I went with a bunch of insteon devices after we got broke into last year. I know it's not new technology, but it works flawlessly, and bestbuy had them on sale 50% off at the time, so was a small investment that provided the gf a lot of peace of mind after being freaked out by the intrusion.
