Default GAME 8: STAMPEDERS at Saskatchewan

Game Time: Saturday, August 22nd at 5:00pm (Mosaic Stadium)
TV: TSN, ESPN3(across the US)

It is always a pleasures to see the Riders struggles and I would be very happy to see the Stampeders give the Riders the 0-8 record after this game.

Stampeders are in 2 games winning streak and they also won 4 straight games against the Riders dating back to 2013. At Mosaic, Stamps won 5 games out of 8 games over in 5 seasons. Riders' record this season is actually very deceiving. They are a good team losing 6 games in a close games and still have one of the best offense in the league. Problem is they are playing the rookie QB Brett Smith so they can't really take advantage of their offensive skills led by receivers Weston Dressler, Chris Getzlaf and Jerome Messam. It is their defense that are struggling plus they tend to have discipline problems with so many unnecessary penalties. I don't think the Stamps will be taking them lightly though. At least I am hoping especially playing against a rookie QB, they tend to take them lightly and not pressure them enough.

OFFENSE:

QB Bo Levi Mitchell is starting to pick his game. He was averaging 296.6 yards passing, 5 passing TDs and 0 interception in the past 3 games. Last game against Ottawa, he threw for 243 yards, threw 2 TD passes and rushed for 2 TDs. WR Eric Rogers seems to be Bo's favorite target and you can't blame Bo on that as Rogers been awesome ever since he joined the Stampeders late last season. Rogers caught 5 passes for 92 yards and 1 TD last game. OL Shane Bergman will miss the game due to a minor injury and he will be replaced by International OL John Estes. Estes can play all positions in Offensive Line so I think it a bonus to have him.

DEFENSE:

Last game was the best defense we ever seen this season. They pressured Henry Burris all night and continued even with Burris was replaced by DeMarco. DT Junior Turner been having a great season so far. Last game he had 3 tackles, 1 QB sack and 1 knockdown. LB Deron Mayo was also good this season so far. He had 4 tackles, 1 special team tackle and 1 QB sack last game vs the Redblacks. LB Maleki Harris, a rookie from Southern Alabama will be dressing in his first game as a Stampeders. He'll be backing up the MLB Juwan Simpson and Deron Mayo. I hope the defense will play the same stingy defense as last game and pressure the rookie Brett Smith all night long.

SPECIAL TEAM:

What can we say about Punter Rob Maver? He is the probably the best directional punter in the CFL. All season long he's been pinning the opponent in 5 yards or less. Maver is averaging 45.6 yards and he had 2 punts out at 1 yard line last game against Ottawa. Special Team coverage were also awesome last game and I hope it continues. Only negative so far this season is the return team. Tim Brown who missed some practice this week have some good return only to be nullified because of the holding or illegal block penalties. I still can't wait to see Tim Brown go all the way and score a TD return.

INS and OUTS:

IN: #32 DB Tevaughn Campbell (draft pick 2015), #47 ST/LB Corbin Sharun (former top Eskimos Special Teamers), #51 LB Maleki Harris, #66 OL John Estes (Univ of Hawaii) and #98 DE Brandon Boudreaux.

OUT: #36 LB Glenn Love(injured), #44 DT Ben D'Aguilar(injured), #60 OL Shane Bergman(minor injury), #95 DE Freddie Bishop III (injured) and LB Jasper Simmons(released).

************************************************** *********

GO STAMPS GO!!! I want to see the Riders with0-8 record.

So if Simmons was still with the Stamps, he likely would be starting in place of the injured Love. Instead, he's on the Bombers practice roster. Timing is everything.

Love is not starting either. He would've gotten in onto the active roster though. He won't be on Bombers practice roster long though, probably just learning the playbook.

Either way, he wanted got out and we give Harris a chance, no loss really for us. Good teams have players like Simmons all over the place.

rookie mistake by Brett Smith forcing the pass to the end zone. Rob Bagg was double-teamed by two defender. Interception by Jamar Wall.

what the hell TSN? Can you not talk about the game any more? I'm sorry but I don't care what a former player has to talk about for 10 minutes during the game. Save that for half time.

Impressive drive. 13 plays for a touchdown Tory Harrison. 2-point convert was unsuccessful.

Brandon Smith would have intercepted the pass if it wasn't for Joe Burnett trying to go after the ball also.

Stamps are doing their best to out suck the Riders, this is not good football.

Pretty weak call from the looks of that replay.
