I don't see any banner attached so I assume this idiot knew he would get caught and put on the news. Good to see the Calgary Herald not fully taking the bait and publishing his business.

I watched his descent and it's probably a small miracle he didn't kill himself. At about 1000 feet, he was in a pretty uncontrollable spin.
Quite a failure as I'd imagine 99.9% of people on the grounds didn't even realize what had happened.

"The winds were pretty fierce up there, no doubt ... the winds were so strong, it pushed me back," said Boria, who sounded excited.
"I jumped out of the chair and landed about a mile away the grounds.
"I can't specify the altitude I went to."
Boria had just been released from police custody after being charged with mischief when he spoke to the Sun.
The stunt went airborne to promote a cleaning company, with the balloon-lawnchair contraption flying its banner.

for some minor injuries sustained allegedly when he parachuted from his lawn chair
That line from the article just cracks me up. "Parachuting" from a "lawnchair" That's just fricken funny.

Larry Walters was the first one to do this stunt:

Mythbusters have tackled this one and there was a movie made about Larry.
The helium for this would have been expensive as hell, so you know he must have a pretty large bankroll. I hope the penalty he will receive takes that into account.

I think this was awesome.
Calgary could do with a little more mischief.

I just think of the consequences if he'd come down anywhere else, ie. Deerfoot, any other major road system, into the Zoo, etc.

It would have been better if people had been shooting at the balloons from the ground.

I would be way more into stampede if that was one of the choices for midway games.
