Brooks suggests that Hamilton/Lucic were problems in dressing room
As always, a gigantic nugget of salt with his "reporting" is necessary
Quote:
Trading Dougie Hamilton and Milan Lucic within hours for a pair of No. 1s, a couple of other draft choices and a backup goaltender doesn’t represent a rebuild or retool in Boston, it reflects management’s belief something was very amiss in the room last season when the B’s missed the playoffs.
And by management, we’re suggesting the younger Mr. Jacobs and Cam Neely, not necessarily newly hired GM Don Sweeney.

There it is. Boston media does this with pretty much every guy that gets moved out. Brooks beat em to the punch this time.
We're glad to have this dressing room problem on our team now.

The thing is Boston had 96 points last year. The notion that they had a bad year is silly. Before last year no team had ever missed the playoffs with 95 points, and it happened to two teams last year.
I think Boston overreacted and panicked and Calgary did a great job taking advantage of that.

Lucic has been a Bruin for 8 years; hard to believe he'd be a dressing room problem after all these years

Same kind of angle was played with Seguin. I'm sure Dallas is fine with his "party animal" criticism and I'm sure we'll life through Dougies locker room stuff - whatever it is or isn't.

Weren't they trying to re-sign him though, and then traded when talks went sideways?

It's a bad year considering they won the president's trophy the year before

Yet the GM who was there last year was trying to trade for both of them.
Must have been real problems lol.

Brooks is fishing. He either comes out and blames his sources or says the players grew up if he is wrong, and if he ends up being right, he gets to say he was the first one to say it. Classic tabloid journalism

The only problem with Hamilton was that they couldn't play him the whole game and they only had one of them. Maybe he made the old guys in Boston feel even older...

Four days ago Bruins GM Don Sweeny called Hamilton a foundational player, now he's a dressing room problem?
If he's as upsetting to the system as Tyler Seguin was, thank you.

I'm sure it was Dougie's fault. Had nothing to do with losing their leading goal scorer to free agency, their #2/#3 Dman to trade, their #~3 Dman getting older, and their #1Dman no longer having an MCL (?) In his knee

If I had enough money, I would hire Tortorella to shadow Larry Brooks all day and just keep him in his place.

Well crap.
Ah well, hopefully Treliving can somehow flip Dougie before he destroys our locker room . In light of this new development I don't think we should be keeping this poison pill around.
Thanks for the heads up Larry!

That article is such a drive-by speculative shot without any sources or confirmation from within the organization. Awful reporting to simply give management a pass on poor decision making. Even after he mentions the dressing room issues, he goes on to say that the Flames blue line looks fantastic.
Quote:
We’re not buying a ticket to board the Dougie Hamilton Bandwagon, but the Flames sure look good on defense with the 22-year-old slotting with Mark Giordano, T.J. Brodie, Kris Russell and Dennis Wideman.
|
Eric Francis looks like a Pulitzer winner in comparison to this.

Seems like every young player in Boston was considered trouble in the locker room. First Thornton, then Seguin and now Hamilton and Lucic?

The Boston Herald sharticle quotes an anonymous asst gm saying he doesn't know what the issue was, before running his mouth about what he'd heard. Hamilton, he'd heard somewhere maybe, is an "uppity kid." Ergo, had to go.
Gerbilism at its finest.
