Gmail running very slow

What better place to ask -

My computer is running fast, every other web page runs fast, gmail runs fast when I restart the computer and first sign in and then it lags and lags to the point I click on subject and it takes 30 seconds for the keyboard to respond.
I then go to other sites and they all run normal.

Any ideas?

Do you ever get a message about flash crashing or other plugins not responding?

If yes, do a google search on how to fix that issue.

Travis - are you on a Mac or PC?

Does closing the GMail tab then re-opening it temporarily fix the problem? Or do you need to do a full reboot to get it running fast again?

Messages pop up early on start up requesting permission to run certain programs (I should pay more attention as to what it is) but I will give google a shot.

Closing the window and re opening does not help.

Within an open browser window,
I would try, holding the "CTRL" key and then pressing the "H" key.

Click on the Clear Browsing Data tab.
Check whatever box you feel comfortable removing.

Likely a extension causing issues.

Disable them all, and if it is faster, add them in one at a time, once you have given it some time to 'break.

This might be worth a try, but flash is not vital for Gmail, however chat and video use it and possibly the new mail sound. It is integrated in it however.

In the URL bar type in chrome://plugins

Expand the page in the top right "Details" and look for Adobe Flash Player, let me know what you have there. Its just a hunch as pepflashplayer.dll has been all over the tech forums as having issues in Chrome, not sure if this would tie into Gmail but its worth a look.

If you have two flash players, disable the one using the pepflashplayer.dll, and restart your browser, check your task manager to make sure all instances of Chrome are no longer running, sometimes addons hang a session.

Also make sure at the bottom of the flash player there is a checkbox for "always allowed" which I would have checked, it stops you from having to approve pages for using flash.

thx for the advice - I did have 2 flash players running and disabled one that looked similar to what you mentioned.

For the time being, gmail is 100x faster after playing in it for a minute or 2. Ill let you know if it stays this way.
