Default Looking for an email solution

The current setup:
I have personal gmail account, a work email address through GoDaddy, and a 'backup' gmail account used in conjunction with my work email. I have a primarily Apple-based setup where I send & receive emails through any of an iPhone 5S (using the stock Mail client), iPad 2 (stock mail client) or an iMac (using Thunderbird).

The problem:
If I send a work email (GoDaddy account) from any one of those devices it remains only in the sent box on that device. Example: I reply to a work email on my iPhone but when I fire up my iMac I have no record if that email was replied to.

The current fix:
I'm using the backup work gmail account and automatic BCCing and forwarding to try and collect all emails in one place but it has proved to be messy and clunky at best.

So that's why I'm posting here today - looking for a solution so that no matter where I send an email from all my devices have the current 'chain'. I'm not advanced on this sort of thing so dumbing anything down is appreciated!

**edit**
I'm a big user of Calendars too. I have the gmail calendar as my main, with the Apple iCal and Calendar apps pulling info from that. If there's a way to streamline that into a new email app/client I'm all for that too!

I just use the Gmail client and have Gmail setup so I can send from any of my accounts (even non-gmail ones), so when I send an email it shows up in my Gmail's sent mail. Basically I use one Gmail account for all my email addresses.

So you're able to add other addresses to your gmail account? Say if you add photon@cp.com - when you send from your gmail client will the recipient see it from cp.com or gmail.com?

You can set it either way, you can set Gmail to send it itself in which case some email clients will show photon@gmail.com on behalf of photon@cp.com, or you can put in your other email provider's SMTP server credentials and it'll send through that so it looks like it comes from photon@cp.com

I do this as well, I think I have 4 or 5 accounts doing this. The only one I can't get to work is my icloud account.

I think your problem above is that you are using imap to setup the phones, etc and I believe they will all have there own sent, trash etc folders so it gets muddled on the main client. This happened to me when my company briefly allowed imap with our corporate email. Couldn't figure out where my emails were when I sent from my gmail app.

If you have a way to do icloud email photon let me know.

No idea about iCloud sorry, I avoid that it somehow took over my wife's devices and iMessage doesn't work properly.
