"If you're playing the last game, you have a chance to start the season here," head coach Bob Hartley emphasized on Friday afternoon.
Mikael Backlund, David Jones, and Mason Raymond skated with the team on Friday and made the trip to Winnipeg.
BROADCAST INFO
Sportsnet 960 The FAN (radio) will be broadcasting the game. The Flames will also be live-tweeting the game from Winnipeg.

Because Monahan and Hudler were not practicing with a complete line, I think it is safe to say they are not playing tonight's game.

FYI. If you have gamecentre, there is a "watch live" button under both of the all Canada games tonight. Assuming it will be streamed.

I wonder who else will be sitting. I'm going to guess Russell and engelland if Worhersoon is healthy I see him and Wideman will be playing since Wideman hasn't looked good so far this season. I think his spot is up for grabs or maybe he is coasting until the season starts?

It looks to me like this line gets sent to Addy/Kingston and we have our opening day roster with one single rookie in the line up.

Yup. Once you insert monahan and Hudler back into line up it pretty much sends Byron and Setoguchi to pressbox. The pressbox is no place for the young kids.

That (i.e., the Bennett/Baertschi/Jorris line will be sent down) assumes that Backlund and Jones are ready to play and not just practice.

I am sick of this. If Toronto or Montreal plays exhibition they televise the game. I can understand not televising the game in Colorado because they are outside Canada but 2 Canadian teams playing on a Saturday night and nothing. There's my rant.
As for the game, I hope John Gaudreau, Sam Bennett, Sven Baertschi and Josh Jooris plays lights out tonight. I also hope the Flames are true to their words that players have to earn their rights to be in the lineup.

I think Hartley really believes that, but ultimately, it isn't his call. If Baertschi and Jorris make the lineup over Setoguchi and Bollig, I'll be very impressed in Treliving that he's able to admit his mistakes, but I'll believe that when I see it.

I think that Setoguchi better score a hat trick if he wants to make the squad.
His demotion to the AHL will be an easy excuse for Treliving, who said it was a low risk, moderate reward in signing him, and he didn't produce.
I think JG, JJ, Sven make the squad. Bennett back to junior.

What mistakes? Having some kids beat out vets for jobs in no way shape or form implies that the vets were mistakes.
If anything, it proves and reaffirms that signing them created the competition for jobs that they were looking for.
