I really hope he signs somewhere in the East so we don't have to watch him torch us several times a year.

Interesting. I though was pretty decent for them.

That was a costly boo-boo for a team that isn't exactly rich.

How's it a compliance buyout when they signed him last year?

This is from CapGeek: "Per Transition Rule 53, a compliance buyout can only be executed on a contract entered into on or before Sept. 15, 2012."

Really? I didn't see it coming at all. This a little surprising at least.
Sure, he had a bit of a down year for him, but it's a Dave Tippett team for crying out loud. He's lucky he didn't have his worst offensive year as a pro.

I was more referring to the murmurs earlier in I believe the Trade Speculation thread about this happening. But yeah it isn't as though he's horrid.

I thought he was decent for the Coyotes. Wonder if they are making room for someone else?

I remember thinking when they signed him "doesn't seem like a Coyote type player".
Guess not.
Hopefully the little rat signs out East.

This makes no sense. What was the reason for it?

Uh, no.
2013/14 with Phoenix: 16 goals, 31 assists, 47 points in 80 games.
2012/13 with Washington:13 goals, 36 assists, 49 points in 48 games.
That's a PPG of .59 with Phoenix vs. a PPG of 1.02 with Washington. Big difference.
Also put up an average PPG of 0.86 his last 2 years in Dallas. This last year is more of an aberration.
