Default Outlook Sync with Android

Trying to get a clients contacts and calendar synced with Outlook. Exchange is not in use here. The client just got a Galaxy S5 and I've been doing some research and there seems to be a bunch of options but most paid.

Anyone know of anything that will sync on the fly (no plugging into the computer required), works well and is free? Google offers something but only for paid Gmail accounts.

I just went through this and there is nothing better than Google Apps Sync for Outlook.

I recommend getting your client to pay the $5 per month to keep your sanity.

It's $5 a month for a paid Gmail account? Anyone know if you can convert a free one to paid? She's a lawyer and just spent all this time setting up her phone with this free email account. Not a chance she's going to want to do it again with a different email address.

Yes it can be converted but you need to be using Google Apps for business.

My client was the same. Tried to convince him to move to Office 365 and use Active Sync but his website and employee emails were already with Google.

He insisted on being able to sync his Google Gmail account with his Microsoft Outlook on his Microsoft Windows office computer and his Apple iMac home computer, along with his Apple iPhone and Apple iPad.

I was trying to find a way to get Linux, a PS4 and a Sun Workstation added to the mix but ran out of patience.
