Indications are that the Islanders will hold onto this year's pick to either select one of the five top prospects who are fairly equally rated, or trade the pick to acquire a more NHL-ready player.

Not too surprised, they want to give Buffalo a pick outside the top 10 next year if possible.

My guess is if they can't find a deal they like they give their pick this year to the Sabres.

I'd definitely trade Hudler + for #5. Getting two of Reinhart/Bennett/Drasaitl/Dal Colle would be unbelievable.

I'd consider moving Reinhart or Granlund in addition to Hudler. Getting two very talented very young players will help a huge amount moving forward. I'd almost be willing to add more as long as the + is not Sven Gaudreau Poirier Klimchuk or Janko.

I say we keep everything the same as far as trades go, get some FA signings that we need and keep the assets to trade next season for a 1-2 pick if we don't get it.

I would not move Granlund for Dal Colle/whatever else. He's a keeper IMO. The possibility of Gaudreau feeding Granlund and that wicked snipe is drool inducing.

We're going to need Hudlers cap hit. Cannot see how he fits into trade rumors until they decide whats happening with Cammy.

If they want immediate help, they won't want prospects. Think Glencross, wideman, backlund, or other proven players. They're dumb though so maybe butler gets it done lol

Tough tough spot for the Islanders. If they trade #5 overall this year for "immediate help" AND have to give up next year's 1st rounder to Buffalo, that's back to back years without replenishing the farm. For a team that's consistently a bottom dweller, this is horrible.

I can't imagine what the Islanders would want for #5, but they could basically take anyone excluding Monahan, Baertschi, Gaudreau, Colborne, Brodie and Giordano. Wideman, Hudler, Stajan, Smid, Cammy's rights, 2nds, 3rds, etc are all in play.
