I don't want to trade him, just a gut feeling.

Butler, Cammy and a kid get moved. Not sure who first.
Hopefully Stemp too, but with the recent birth I'm not sure.

I'm scared if this too, but Hartley seems to really admire his game. Hopefully that message is relayed properly to Burke.
If the Flames were to trade Brodie, it would have to be a pretty significant hockey trade and return.
I think Stempniak goes first.

Butler for a pick tomorrow ... 4th rounder is what I expect. A late 3rd would be great.

Cammy will be first. He'll be gone in the next couple hours.

Absolutely no evidence points to us trading our 23-year old first-pairing D in the first year of his bridge deal.
He's not going anywhere.

How does trading Butler for a 3rd round pick make our team better now, or in the future? Only 12% of players drafted in the 3rd round or later make an NHL career (at least 200 NHL games). You don't just make trades because it's fun, there has to be something in it for both sides, and Burke isn't going to trade a big minute guy for a 3rd round pick.
I do however think Cammy gets traded for a late 1st round pick and a prospect nobody's ever heard of.

1) Wideman + 3rd for Gardiner + a cap dump
2) March 4th by 3pm EST
3) Dissapointingly I think there will only be this trade and another minor trade for a total of 2.
I really doubt Butler goes because I don't think anyone is really looking for his skillset, I'm not a hater of his, but I would be happy to see him go and open a spot up however.

If Butler has no intentions or re-signing with the Flames.... Flames will try to get the best possible return for the player... Which could be a draft pick type of return....
My Guess.
First Flame traded TJ Gallardi for a 4th.

Why would Flames do this? Gardiner still has a ways to go before he's as good a defenseman as Wideman is.

Wideman is 31 later this month and will be at least 33-34 before the Flames even have a chance of being a competitor. Gardiner will have the time to grow along with a bunch of other up and comers.
The only young defenceman we've got going right now is TJ (Kris Russell is next at 26 which is debatably young too).
I'm not saying that's a sound "They should definitely do it", but I would be pretty happy to see it happen.
