It was a helluva longshot to begin with. The way he came back from a broken leg was practically superhuman.

Although, I thought they were waiting until Saturday to make this decision.

I actually hope it's James Neal, he is a beast. With St. Louis being a great pick as well.

I'm kinda glad that he isn't playing. Not because I don't think he belongs but based on how long it has taken him to heal. Even if the doctor said he can go, I would still question his readiness, because he hasn't played yet. Do we need a guy refinding his game to be playing on the Olympic roster? Yes a Stamkos at 65% is better than many players, but the options to replace him aren't going to hurt Canada's chances.

What it really boils down to, is I'd rather Stamkos heal properly instead of risking further injury that could put a damper on how well his career could go.

St.Louis should be first in line but then again I thought it was silly that Giroux wasn't a lock either. Flip a coin.

According to CBC these are the players for injury replacement (from last week's hotstove):

how could Taylor Hall not help the team? is he really that terrible just because he plays for the Oilers? He is fast, has too skill and would benefit from playing with a team full of winners. He will likely represent Canada at the next Olympics, I'd rather him than an aging Thornton.

Although, watching Captain Turnover would be pretty hilarious on the big ice.

Because he giftwraps opposing teams about 4 chances a night.

St. Louis and Neal should be the only considerations. Canada has enough centres, get some true wingers in there.
