Question Who is your choice to win the cup so far?

Halfway through the season now we should have an idea at which teams are legit and which aren't. I have a feeling the Blackhawks are going to repeat. But of course I want Iggy to get that ring.

Tough call but I feel L.A is the one this year.

Chicago, St.Louis are also right up there.

I'd like to see Boston win only because of Iggy but my personal choice is LA. Realistically though, either St. Louis or Chicago.

Boston vs LA looks quite plausible right now.

I would say Boston. My dark horse picks are St. Louis from the west and Tampa from the east.

Edit: lol seems lots are saying St. Louis. Maybe not such a dark horse and rightfully so

Boston would be the safest bet since the Eastern conference is terrible. The Pens noshowed against them last year, but even if they had, are they even capable of beating the Bruins in a seven game series?

As for the West take your pick Chicago, Anaheim, and St. Louis are the three legitimate threats. After that San Jose and Los Angeles are better than any Eastern team; even Phoenix I think has a shot if everything falls in their favor. Colorado needs another year or two, and they should be contenders as well.

Out of those teams I probably like St. Louis the most. They will look to add another piece or two at the deadline, and as long as Elliot plays well enough in the playoffs I think they'll have the depth to beat the best teams this year. Then of course there is Hitchcock who knows what it takes to get the team far into the playoffs. All their key players are also in their prime which should help as well.

Backes is 29
Berglund is 25
Oshie is 27
Schwartz is 21
Steen is 29
Stewart is 26
Tarasenko is 22
Bouwmeester is 30
Pieterangelo is 23
Shattenkirk is 24
Elliot is 28

All their veterans play on bottom lines, but they're no slouches either in Roy, Morrow, and Jackman.

At this point i would have to go with chicago they will have the best matchups through the playoffs if they finish in first and take less of a beating. They did not lose that much depth from their run and replaced it with people like saad and shaw who have more experience from last year. Otherwise i would say the bruins as a good second choice they have lost more depth than chicago from last year. However the eastern conference is a lot less physical so the bruins could come into the finals with a lot less wear and tear. Ultimately it all depends on which matchups they draw in the playoffs. Any team that comes up against a team like LA or St.Louis is going to get worn down pretty quickly and injuries are one of the biggest factors when it comes up to the last few matchups.
