Car cranks but won't start!!!
So any of you guys that are good with cars, some help would be appreciated.
This is actually my girlfriends car that isn't working, which is a 2004 Nissan Sentra.
It's been driving fine, parked it over the weekend and tried to start it again on Monday and now it won't start. It cranks and seems like it is about to catch but won't start.
I've checked the spark plugs and I am seeing spark and am smelling gas and it's wet with fuel when I try to crank the car.
Checked the fuel line and when I primed the car a large squirt of gas came out so I don't think it's the fuel pump.
Pulled out the camshaft position sensor, and it was oily? Possible fault? But I am getting spark so not sure if it's bad or not.
Over the year been getting a P0128 code which indicates coolant temperature. Could a faulty thermostat or engine coolant temperature cause the car not to start?
I'm not sure what else to check for. What else can I do?
EDIT: I should also note that the car before would take a couple cranks before it would start.

Perhaps it overheated and the head cracked. Is there oil in the radiator?
Just a guess.

Usually when it cranks but won't start it's the battery. But by the way you're explaining the problem it seems you know a lot more about cars than I do, you've probably ruled that out.
Once my alternator went, and that caused the same sort of problem. It technically shouldn't, cause the alternator charges the battery, not starts the car, but for whatever reason in my car at the time it had the same effect.

If it's going "RRRRR RRRR RRRR RRRR" it's your alternator or something.
If it's going "RR RR RRRRR RR RR RR" I would check you fuel injector.

A bad coolant temperature sensor could cause the car to run rich and prevent it from starting. They are $15 on rock auto, so you can probably get a new one for ~$30 locally. I'd start with that.

You checked lots, but you didn't check the battery. I bet if you jumped the car it would run.

I just tried to jump my car but it's not working. Could be alternator... I'll test it when I get my voltmeter.
Maybe I'll try to replace the ect

My mechanic said sounds like a fuel pump, have the fuel pressure checked. Also, replace the thermostat and replace coolant if you haven't done that recently.

Might be a cap and rotor issue. My van (Frankenstart) turned out to be that.... Found it by spraying WD40 on electrical components and looked for tiny sparks that shouldn't be there. Found one on the coil wire.
Fouled spark plugs are also a possibility. And fuel injectors...

Could be the fuel pump as Minnie has said. Try turning the key to the on position and listen to see if the fuel pump is priming. You should hear a slight humming noise.

Yeah I definitely hear the fuel pump priming. It seems to have pressure as it squirts out fuel from the rail. But maybe I will get a gauge and see if it is actually working,

Check the head light fluid.
If that doesn't work. I would almost bet on it being the alternator gasket.

If it's the fuel pump grab a hammer and with the side of the hammer hit the middle of the tank a couple times for a temporary fix.

If the pump is priming it could be a case of a clogged fuel filter preventing gas from reaching the engine.
