Fantasy football
this is my first year of fantasy football since 2006. I haven't kept up with the NFL well enough but I did a team this year with the group of mods on another forum this year. Our draft was last night and here is my team.
How bad is it?

I am certainly no fantasy expert (as evidenced by my finishes last year) but that seems very light on RB and there is no need for 3 QBs especially QB's that are as good as you have.
I would move RG3 and even Schaub to get better RB's and then pick up some FA QB to fill in for the week Brees is on bye.

I think you reached for a DST and TE a little too early, especially in a 10 team league. I'd wait a couple weeks until RGIII has a big game and then trade him for some RB help...although I think Lacy will be decent in Green Bay.

That was the plan with RGIII, holding him for bait

running backs will kill you unless you do swap one of your QBs for a running back.
but at least you aren't the guy who draftes McCoy in the first round. I'm pretty sure he is out for the season.
I think the guy who drafted #3 is the early favorite in my eyes

12 team league, 3 bench spots and 1 IR. I'm not a fan of the small bench, but what can you do? I drafted 11 and ended up with
QB Stafford
RB Spiller, Lamar Miller, Le'Veon Bell, Fred Jackson
WR Calvin Johnson, Reggie Wayne, Tavon Austin, Percy Harvin (put him on the IR)
TE Brandon Myers

I think that was just speculation on his part since McCoy isn't the most durable player.

Arian is a huge gamble this year. The Texans are my team and his injury is scary. I would be very hesitant to take him unless you are getting him at a good value.
I'm of the belief that quality Kickers & ST/DEF can be had very late. I always save my kicker for my last pick and defence isn't to far ahead of that as D production is a crap shoot every year. Teams like Arizona/San Diego/Cinci/Chicago were all top-end performers last year and weren't nearly as hyped as many other teams prior to the season. Kickers are the same way, you can easily pickup a top fantasy producer at kicker off waivers when the season gets going.

1) I think so
2) I wouldn't be the one who starts the run, but I wouldn't want to be too far behind too. Unless you have other key positions filled already and Seattle or San Fran is kicking around, I would wait until round 12 at the earliest.
3)It does bump their numbers, but there are still so many receivers to pick from...it really only matters if you have a flex position and can choose a WR over an RB. You still have to draft your RB's so I wouldn't put too much stock in to the PPR..I would however keep an eye on RB's that catch the ball a lot too. Matt Forte for instance gets a huge bump, same with guys like Rice & McCoy. Guys like Ridley and Morris who don't catch a lot get a slight downgrade because of it.

For every pick you made that I'd have done differently you got value somewhere else. There's crazy depth at QB this year so Brees in the 1st is going to hold you back (especially picking just before the turn with only 2 QBs gone), but getting Rice in the 2nd somewhat makes up for that.
You got some nice upside picks late in the draft with Jennings in the 11th and Givens in the 14th. RG3 in the 9th is fantastic, and may just save your team (more on that later).
I like Lacy but not as an RB2. I think Schaub will be fine as a QB2 for bye weeks - you have two QBs that should be every-week starters. I actually do not think you should trade RG3 unless you can get top 5 QB value for him. I think you should trade Brees and run with RG3. Brees is perceived as a superstud while people are worried about RG3's recovery, but at the end of the year I bet these two aren't separated by more than 2 or 3 points per game. You'll probably get a much better RB2 return on Brees.
Is your waiver wire open? These are the guys I don't see drafted that you need to go after immediately given your RB situation:
Ben Tate (Foster's having back injections and Tate's an instant top 10 RB if Foster misses time)
Ronnie Hillman (Montee Ball is whiffing on his opportunity to be the lead back here)
Danny Woodhead (SD likely to use him in the pass game a lot)

I need opinions on who to keep in my 12 team keeper league. The rules are; We can keep 3 players and we lose a draft pick this year based off where they were selected last year (or years past if they were kept before). If we picked a player off waivers and want to keep them, we lose our last round pick in the draft (so pretty much nothing).
This is what I have to choose from:
Aaron Rodgers for a 1st
Steven Ridley for a 6th
Andrew Luck for a 7th
Danny Amendola for an 11th
Marshawn Lynch for a 15th
Hakeem Nicks for a 15th
David Wilson for a 15th
T.Y. Hilton for a 15th
Ryan Matthews for a 15th
Its a good problem to have, but I am torn. Lynch is a no-brainer and I think so is Ridley, I am deciding between the value of Luck vs. Rodgers, or just re-draft a QB and keep Wilson or Nicks.

I would keep Luck, Lynch, and Amendola. By keeping Luck you can still have a #1 pick and grab another good RB. I think Amendola is the new Welker for the Pats and will put up huge numbers considering their loss of depth at that position.

2. I typically play 'matchup' defenses on a week-to-week basis. I find you can usually bounce around until the bye weeks come and someone usually ends up dumping their defense for another rather then a non-performing bench player. This is how I got Seattle's defense last year.
Thus, I usually wait until the 14ish rounds to pick up my defense.
3. We also play with .5 receptions and it does give receivers and receiving backs more value, but the running backs are still priority #1. You will typically be paying more attention to targets then you would in the past, especially for TE's who may catch alot of balls but for small yardage (Brandon Myers).

I loathe Ryan Matthews more than anyone in fantasy. But if this league has more than 4 teams...he's worth a 15th rounder.
Wilson and Ty Hilton in lieu of a 15th for sure. Amendola on the Pats for an 11th I'm the fat kid eating a cake on that one. Lynch for a 15th.....WTF? How is that possible?

12 team dynasty league with up to 8 keepers. The big time wrench here is that it's a 2 QB format, so QB values are a totally different animal here. Every keeper you lose a pick at the front of the draft. Right now I have 6 for sure guys, and will likely keep 7th since I have the 12th pick in the draft, giving me top pick in the even numbered rounds.
So far for keepers I was going to go
QB Brees
QB Luck
RB Ray Rice
WR Vincent Jackson
WR Crabtree
TE Witten
I have Vic Ballard and Ronnie Hillman as other RB options. I know Crabtree is out for a bit, but he pretty much won the championship for me last year as him and Kaepernick hit it off, so I think I lean to keep him as there is 1 IR spot. Should I keep Hillman and try to hancuff him to Ball with my first pick? Or just keep Ballard and hope he gets more of a roe in a West coast offence? Keeping in mind....3 teams needing 3 QB's means that 4 teams are really scraping the crapper or a bye week QB in a season that's only 11 weeks. So really if I'm not using all 8 keepers I should be trying to get the best bye week fill in at QB that I can.
