What do you expect from Sean Monahan this upcoming season?
When scrolling through the "Flames team elimination game" thread I noticed that Monahan is the highest rated player in the thread. Even though the game is mostly regarding a players popularity the apparent excitement among the fan base led to my question; What do you expect from Sean Monahan this upcoming season?
Will he stay in Juniors for another year? Will he only get a 9(?)-game stint with the big club or do you think he will establish himself as a regular, and in that case, in what role with which wingers?

I'd like him used kind of like Galchenyuk was used last year. I remember him playing a lot on a line with Gallagher and Prust, which seems like it would be an excellent line to develop his predicted 2-way game on. I'd like to see Sean sheltered a bit at first, maybe on a line with Glencross (having Baertschi and Cammy as our top 6 LW) and maybe a Jones, Stemp, or Galliardi if he is able to play both wings.
Maybe after the trade deadline see if he's ready to take a bit more of an offensive role with Hudler/Baertschi on the 2nd line. Maybe give him 2nd unit PP/PK duties during the year.
I think if he proves he's ready in training camp it would be a huge benefit to him to play with NHL players, I believe he's a very mature player for his age and getting NHL experience as early as possible could be great for his development.

Push to make the team, if he makes it show signs of improvement throughout the year.

9 decent games in the NHL and then back to junior to be a top player in the CHL and a big contributor/top line C for the WJHC.

I think he will play the first 9 games and impress. It will be a tough decision for Feaster after the 9 games but he will ultimately be sent back to junior where he will dominate.

Strong showing in Penticton tournament - is anointed saviour by CP.
Takes a big hit in pre-season, sits out a shift - high expectations shattered by injury concerns.
Makes opening day roster - Feaster is rushing Flames' top prospect.
Struggles early on in the NHL, picks up 2 or 3 assists, no goals - Rebuild is a failure.
Returns to juniors after 9 game stint - ZOMG it's Dustin Boyd all over again.
Monahan beats previous point totals despite shortened junior season - proves Feaster was wrong to demote him and destroy his confidence like that.
Monahan is drowned out by the general wailing and gnashing of teeth that will be CP for most of this upcoming season - why is the organization hiding the kid? Is he a bust like Jankowski?
Gets brought up to the Heat after OHL season ends - ticker tape parade held in Bowness.
Scores 3 points in final 3 games of season with Heat - the Saviour has returned! Lets all go to to Chucky Cheese's!!!
My over-under on when a CP poster in all seriousness suggests Monahan as a candidate for the Canadian Olympic team: Nov 5th.

It's not so much of an expectation of Monahan but more of the Flames
Judge the kid accordingly and don't do what the Klowens did to the North and rush him into the NHL just because he was a high first rounder. If he isn't physically ready don't rush him just to show case him.
On the other hand, if he really isn't going to benefit from another year in Junior then I wouldn't mind him getting some sheltered minutes in Calgary/Abbotsford.

I expect Monahan to have a career year in JR's after he is traded from the 67's.

I think he will give us hope for the future with flashes of brilliance throughout the year. There will be some times that he really struggles and is maybe even scratched a few games. I do expect he makes the team as the #3 C and will take a top 6 role post deadline as Stajan is likely traded

I expect him to e tooling around town in a fancy sports car, I expect him to be hanging in the clubs picking up all the chicks and I expect him to break the record for goals by a rookie.......
And I also expect him to be buying coffees for hundreds of people at various shops around town

600 goals and 1300 points... with the Ottawa 67s or whoever they trade him to. No point in burning a year off his ELC when he can take a serious run at a gold for Canada at the world juniors and then a run at a Memorial Cup.

9 games in the NHL...he'll have flashes and we'll all get excited... Then he can have a dominate performance at the WJC, bring home hold for Canada... Best case scenario sees him as C of that team

I think he does 9 games and goes back to the 67's where he tears it up
