That's a great signing IMO. Lots of incentive for Backlund to step-up his game and get a big contract after this one, but leaves Calgary relatively unaffected if he busts. I like it.

If ever there was a home town discount, this is it. Great deal for the Flames and likely means Backs still feels he has more to prove. Very happy he is back, showed a lot of heart and promise last year.
