Too bad he's not signed on for a couple more seasons, as we could take that salary on along with picks + prospects from the Leafs.

Dreger says not trade-related.
Darren Dreger @DarrenDreger
Tim Connolly won't play for Marlies in 11am game tomorrow. No deal imminent. Coaches decision, but based on fear of injury. #tradecentre

The abrupt ending of this post makes me think someone discovered that chedder knows too much and had him terminated. RIP chedder.

We don't need fringe Centers to play with Iggy anymore. He is doing just fine with Malkin...no thanks

Not eliminated. And don't know anything either. Just typing on stupid iphone.
On the why in the minors topic, just think there were too many centers in Leaf land and he has had injury issues.

(If it is trade related.).... Could be a throw in to give the flames a roster player to replace guys they're sending away tomorrow. He's a UFA, so here's hoping he is just part of a package not someone Feaster is aiming to sign to an extension right away

For the Flames, they might be looking for a warm body based on what they plan on doing. But that's still close to a million dollars for a current AHL player, not sure if they would be interested.
Toronto looks like they have room on their reserve list so don't think they would need to move a contract if only 1 player was coming to them as well.

If Feaster trades for a UFA center like Connolly I hope gets fired before he leaves the office tonight.

could be one of those trades to keep us above the floor if we do trade kip and cammalleri. Would only want as a toss in though

May have to be a throw-in to accomodate roster space / salary. Komisarek was mentioned as a similar situation if we want to maximize value for Kipper.

If this guy comes to the Flames i will be disgusted unless it's a salary dump that the leafs throw at us to give us a higher draft choice.

I'd take Connolly if it meant we were getting a 1st in return.

Maybe it's us buying a draft pick this time.

For this year? The Flames couldn't get below the cap floor if they tried. Season is 75% done, the Flames have spent over 44M today.

Doesn't make much sense unless a team is looking for C help.
Toronto has cap space and contract room. Most of his salary has already been spent this season so trading him doesn't help that much to save cash. He is a free agent after this season. In other words they don't get much value in dumping him. And we don't get much value in trading for him.
I guess it could be related to something like a Kipper trade. But I think it is more likely a team is offering a low pick for him or something for a playoff run.
