Default Papal Conclave 2013

I'm not Catholic, but for some reason I just find this whole thing fascinating. Its probably incredibly boring actually being there, but like any good election it's interesting to watch from afar.

Here are the betting odds by candidate: http://www.paddypower.com/bet/novelt...s/pope-betting

How long will the conclave go? http://www.paddypower.com/bet/curren...rp_ids=1178747

Here is a general article about the process, contenders and basic overview http://news.yahoo.com/blogs/lookout/...174900106.html

Hopefully this doesn't have to turn into yet another religious argument thread...but maybe that's asking too much. I just figured CP should have a thread on a fairly significant occurrence globally.

I think it is funny that they use black smoke they haven't come to a decision yet. Kind of cult like haha.

I'm just glad the damned thing is underway. I was getting really sick of all the "news" about it over the last week: it ain't news if nothing's happening.

I'm rooting against the canuck, but I see he's the second favourite right now.

I know I shouldn't have a favourite, but I still miss JP II. Got to see him live in Toronto in 2002 with 850 000 people.

I'm going to miss this past few weeks where no one has been claiming to be infallible.

Would have been cool if this stayed informative instead of proving grounds for everyone's old stand up material
