Default Easiest , Cheapest way to build a website?

Looking to build a quick easy ( and cheap) site for a small hockey league here. Any tips or suggestions?
I'm not really to tech savvy.

Wix.com - supposed to be pretty easy. No coding. You can do a free site or use their premium program.

If you'll be updating content regularly I'd recommend setting up a free Wordpress site. There are loads of free themes available and you can put news and game results up easily.

I have looked at using Webs.com. It seems pretty cheap. Something like 6 bucks a month ( if you pay for a year) and it includes the domain.

Another option is Joomla, but be careful of the version you install as some older ones have a security exploit that is pretty bad.

There are a lot of good templates available though to work with for your site design.

For your purpose, this is actually going to be your best bet I think.

Totally free unless you want some of the more advanced features and really simple to update. Plus it is going to look good right away and you get a good web address for no cost, like nickersandskates.wordpress.com instead of needing to shell out for a domain name.

I used Fatcow and the Weebly drag and drop tool to build my site.

I picked it for the uptime and support, and the fact that I get all kinds of goodies like forum software and wordpress for fee.

Weebly is insanely easy to build a site with

I built the site using the tools

Weebly is drag and drop, one small problem is that weebly uses flash so there can be viewing problems with Ipads

I'm looking to starting a small part-time environmental engineering consulting company and want a website. What would people recommend for buying the domain, hosting, and simple website building? I don't want to overpay for lots of features now, but I want to be able to grow it. It's got to look professional and an some kind of FTP-like file transfer would be a nice option. Anyone use Go Daddy?

Hostpapa isn't bad for hosting. I have my domain through network solutions. You can get a template for free if you go to oswd.org and get kompozer which is a what you see is what you get html editor so it is easy to use.

Don't use Go-Daddy. They're crap. Have used Charlottezweb in the past and had zero issues with them.

I literally can't get through a domain/hosting setup in a single browser on a Mac with GoDaddy. Their tools are evidently all written by different devs with different QA and different browser support. Last time I tried I had to go back & forth between FF & Safari just to get through because so much stuff would be broken in one or the other.

Also Bob Parsons is the scum of the earth. Also GoDaddy threw its full support behind SOPA until someone told them their customers actually knew what it was and they'd lose them all if they didn't pull a fast 180.

Thanks, good to know to avoid Go Daddy. Who would have guessed the company that does the most advertisement gives the worst service? #sarcasm
